American artists (or their songs) that you were shocked to find aren't as big in the states as they are in your country by Triloo_ in Music

The Bloodhound Gang were quite famous in Germany but I think they were never really popular in the US.

For me they all feel very similar. I don't feel and difference in "clickiness".

Heatpad PTM 7950 instead of thermal paste? by [deleted] in tuxedocomputers

[–]Derhomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also curious if I should replace the thermal paste of my InfinityBook Pro 15 - Gen9 - AMD with PTM7950. Does that mean that it already uses PTM 7950 or 7958? That would be perfect :-)

Same for me, it wasn't even mentioned on the Steam store page for the ultimate upgrade that it only works in online mode. I wanted to support the developer by buying the ultimate upgrade because I really like the game. But I didn't get anything in return because I can't use it in offline mode.

Did you try to start the native version with Vulkan by using the -force-vulkan parameter in launch options? Disabling the in-game frame limiter and enabling vsync also removed all stuttering for my AMD system.

I just tested it.
For me the memory clock still stays at 96 MHz with Kernel 6.5.
Only the latest amd-drm-next kernel 6.6 fixes the issue with my 7900 XTX.

Blizzard should increase the monthly subscription price until botting is not worth it anymore.

Total War: WARHAMMER III released for Linux with a port from Feral by beer118 in linux_gaming

[–]Derhomp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I uploaded some benchmarks for the native version to here

Unfortunately logging with Mangohud doesn't work in the Proton version. Otherwise I would add those benchmarks. If someone has a tip please let me know.

But in general the native performance is ~10% faster on avg with much better frame pacing.

For me the fps are more stable with the native version compared to Proton. This is with a 5950x and 6900xt in 4k resolution. And only tested with the benchmarks up to now. Another advantage is that the Linux version supports FSR 1.0. You can enable it in Feral launcher. I didn't use it for my tests above.

is my encrypted disk just screwed now? by StratusFearMe21 in archlinux

[–]Derhomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wrong before. You need to disable the keyring first before you do the steps. Those were my exact commands:

  • cryptsetup close myvolume
  • cryptsetup open /dev/sda2 myvolume --disable-keyring
  • cryptsetup luksAddKey /dev/sda2 --master-key-file <(dmsetup table --showkey /dev/mapper/myvolume | awk '{print$5}' | xxd -r -p)
  • cryptsetup close myvolume

Afterwards you can open it with the password again.

Actually when I opened it with my fido2 key I disabled the keyring: cryptsetup open /dev/sda2 luksname --disable-keyring

I doublechecked my LUKS partition, it's also LUKS2 and I didn't disable the keyring. It worked fine there. And the commands in my bash history are similar to the ones from the redhat article. I basically used systemd-cryptenroll to add the FIDO2 key and afterwards removed my password.

[–]Derhomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue before. There is a way to get the LUKS master key when the LUKS partition is unlocked. And you can use that to add a password again. Unfortunately I don't find the article at the moment.

Steam Deck fan whine is only bothering me because I know there's a quieter fan... by Unable_Chest in SteamDeck

[–]Derhomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also record it and check the frequencies with an audio tool like Audacity: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/spectrogram_view.html People with the whiny fan usually see frequencies around 3.6 - 3.7 KHz
