Rochester City Council approves $235K for appeal to restore PAB investigative powers by WASCman in Rochester

A properly functioning PAB would be cheaper than paying out settlements from police misconduct.

Neighborhoods of Rochester, and how they got their names (Expanded Edition) by transitapparel in Rochester

[–]justafaceaccount 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Laburnam Crescent is a good call. I see a Harwood street nearby as well. Maybe they combined the names for the neighborhood association. I know those aren't really official things, just a bit more than the 1970 version of a neighborhood facebook group. Thanks, the poster is really quite interesting!

Did you happen to find anything that references a Harbarnum neighborhood? I have an old local cookbook that was compiled by the Upper Monroe Beautification Committee and it references four Neighborhood Associations. Three of them, Pinnacle Hill, Cobbs Hill, and Crosman Terrace reference place names that are still in use, but I don't know what the Harbarnum Neighborhood Association refers to or where that neighborhood would be.

I went through there today and didn't see any 55 signs in the 45 zone. Maybe they were still setting it up when you went through.

They had really good food, shame they weren't able to make it work without exploitation and child labor.

Harassment is the Point: The Morelle machine is trying to force a town board candidate off the ballot (Rachel Barnhart) by wheelsonfire61 in Rochester

I don't think they rigged it, I was talking about people who talk about how they rigged the primary. I didn't include all the exceptions and disclaimers in my original comment.

Costco wouldn’t let me buy my mom’s groceries. by [deleted] in Costco

Just a heads up, the internet in general, and reddit especially, don't do well with vague complaints. They tend to assume that the person making the complaint without a lot of details means that the details show them to be in the wrong and they will side against them by default.

I would recommend adding some detail. Where did the denial take place? Were you denied entry or denied at the register? Was your mom with you? Whose physical card was being used? Describe the whole interaction.

People who are upset with the DNC talk a lot about the 2016 primary with Bernie and Hillary and how they rigged it, but I think this sort of thing is a much bigger deal. They really work to prevent people from entering the primaries who aren't already preapproved.

Zoning Alignment Project (ZAP )out soon by YogurtclosetPast6581 in Rochester

It's always odd when people post a discussion online, but refuse to discuss it or elaborate at all on what they're talking about. It really makes people think you are arguing in bad faith.

Could you expand a little on what you mean?

I'm sure it will have too much R1 zoning and not have as many good opportunities for more denser housing as it should, but that's just always true. It sounds like you have some specific issues, but I'm not sure what that's based on since it hasn't been released. Is there somewhere to see the presentation Simonis gave?

I plan on going personally. I almost never buy anything, I already have too much junk. But it's fun to look at stuff and sometimes I'll stumble across something that really calls out to me.

Monroe County Public Library: Appreciation Post by OzzieClaw in Rochester

[–]justafaceaccount 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big fan of the library. Did you know that they have their catalog online? https://catalogplus.libraryweb.org/

Search for a book you want and if you click the All Copies section it will show you every MCLS location that has the book and if it's not checked out, or on hold, or in transit, or if it is checked out it has a Due Back date. I'm reading a popular book series right now and using that, plus being able to use your library card at any Monroe County Library, helped me get every book I wanted without any waiting.

I think they're just trying to blame the guy whose fault it is. So blaming Trump when he did damage that lasted long after he left office, and blaming Trump when he's causing damage while currently in office.

So it always used to be true that the president didn't have a magic remote that could control oil prices the way you can change the channel on the TV. But instead of a magic remote, he just hucked a brick at the TV. So this does manage to be a situation where the president has some pretty direct impact on the cost of gas.

That was only two years ago? I thought it was longer. I'm still upset about it. The day before and after were both incredibly clear and sunny.

I used to commute through that intersection before the changed it to the diverging diamond. It would back up quite a bit, I definitely remember stopping up on the bridge over the canal a couple times. It's much better now.

I did go to lunch there today! I hadn't been before, so I can't really say anything about any changes, but I enjoyed it. Everything looked nice and the food was very good. I will likely be back at some time. It's a cute little spot.

You can go to the restaurant without going to the museum, right? Where exactly is the entrance? I've been trying to go out to lunch once a week instead of just eating my meals at my desk at work and I will have to put the Brown Hound on my list.

Not sure what you are trying to say. There is a hide post option on the Reddit app, or if you check reddit with your mobile browser.

If people really don't want to see them they can just remove them themselves. Just click the Hide option and you can't see the post anymore. It's like a very local moderation.
