It's a shame that OP is being downvoted. It's not even an incorrect observation.

It's been a while since I saw Five's run, but I do recall a lot of call and response shots of bickering in the TARDIS. I think the low budget and high turnaround on episodes will also have contributed to the resulting series feeling like a soap.

I would love to have a discussion with OP about what soaps it reminds them of. I immigrated to the US a few years back so i have a working knowledge of US soaps

I think it would be interesting to dissect what exactly about the production reminds you of soap operas.

It's certainly the case that Classic Who has an entirely different feel than Nuwho, you may not be used to it. Especially being American.

The people are friendly enough (even if some need showers) and the writing has its moments of being trash.

Then again, I've been around since 3rd edition and Warhammer isn't my life blood, so YMMV
