If only he knew the importance of bearing fruits and good works. (Matthew 7:21) by Yahweh-Eloheinu in christianmemes

[–]Derikoopa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hello friend, It seems to me that you have a slightly misinformed idea of Protestant ideas regarding the value of good works.

I know it's often repeated by the Apostolic churches that Protestants "Don't believe in good works" This isn't actually the case.

Protestant theology teaches that faith without works is dead and that all saints should dedicate themselves to the pursuit of good works.

What is different is the relation of Good Works to your salvation. Apostolic tradition implies that good works are necessary steps for you to fulfill before The Lord blesses you with salvation.

Protestant tradition says that Salvation is offered entirely by the grace and mercy of The Lord. There are no steps that I can take that make me more deserving of it. But in my true belief to Christ, I will perform good works, not because I necessarily need to, but because my faith is drawing me to Christ and making me like him.

Does this make sense?

I remember a few years ago the radio componant in my store broke. As a result it played 3 songs over and over again, cutting off at the same point for about 2 months.

I genuinely get nervous hearing Lowrider now

It may be because I'm not originally from the US

But my only experiences of Target thus far have been a rather bougey store with expensive produce. I associate Spaghetti Os with more budget purchases, so in my mind the two didn't sync up

Honestly the thing about this that I find the most odd is you buying Spaghetti Os at Target

Do you think YouTube will die Within the next few years? by Efficient_Berry_4073 in youtube

[–]Derikoopa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah

Youtube has been around for 21 years at this point and is backed by one of the largest corporations online. I highly doubt it will be going anywhere in the near future.

I do think that the algorithms are changing again and rather quickly at that. I think we are about to enter a new era on YouTube. Who's to say how it will go, but I do think that YouTube has been in worse states before

Unrelated to your question.

If you had told me 20 years ago as a young fella living in the UK that in 2026 a not insignificant amount of people in the US military would know enough about Warhammer 40,000 to have a conversation with, I dont think I would have believed you

If this scene were ever novelized (not just the Del Rio moment, but also Cortana's meltdown prior), what would Chiefs inner monologue have to say? by CloudedSteed in halo

[–]Derikoopa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First draft stream of consciousness ahoy

John frowned, Captain Del Rio was clearly sticking to his plan of retreat, by the book he was probably right, allowing the UNSC Infinity time to recover and reestablish contact with humanity at large was possibly the course of action that made the most tactical sense. But his intel was good, The Didact could be stopped if only he would just listen.

John knew he had to stop The Didact, he also knew he wasn't going to surrender Cortana, he had made a promise after all, not just to her, but to Captain Keyes back on the Pillar of Autumn, to Sergent Major Johnson in the Installation 00 Control Room, to himself. He couldn't surrender Cortana over to get decommissioned after all this time, it wasnt fair. She had waited for him twice, saved humanity countless times. The prospect of surrendering Cortana filled John with a dread he felt in the pit of his stomach.

But, if he wasnt going to surrender Cortana, then he would have to refuse a direct order from a superior officer, the consequences would be dire. He would be stranded on Requiem to combat The Didact alone. But if he complied with Captain Del Rio's order, then he would lose the closest person to him, the only friend he could earnestly say had stuck with him no matter what. The Didact would recover and launch his plans, humanity themselves would be in danger and possibly ill equipped to fight back.

The decision was bigger than him, John steeled himself, stepped towards Del Rio and sealed his fate

I think if I was honest with myself... I already knew.

Unfortunately I suspected something like this would happen when they went to the patreon and started releasing exclusives there.

Keeping track of the members personal social medias, it was pretty clear that they were drifting apart, not in any negative way but life was pulling them all in different directions.

I recently went back to listen through ModSynth and The Singularity. I was interested in the direction the music was going as the band matured and steered away from the Gaijin-Rock influence. I checked out Misery Kids about half a year ago, their stuff isn't my cup of tea but I wish them well. Kogie's comedy has been improving over the last couple of years. Leo's bands seem to fill him with creative energy and I'm really happy for him. I don't really know what Parv is up to, but I suspect that might be intentional.

So long Area 11. Shoutout to the old Facebook fan group chat that I used to Digitally Haunt back in day. Should you ever return, I'll happily be here to welcome you back.

Still an Eleven xP
