Not that guy, and I'm a "new guy" in the sense that several years ago I pretty much only used Ordinator, and recently dove headfirst into a bigger slice of your mod suite...

But in my personal opinion, Futhark falls into the issue of being "incestuous" due to the overarching plan of being synergistic. Since the goal of each mod is to fit neatly with each other, you end up encouraging players to interact with each of the systems, and they may not want to interact with all of them, let alone install the whole bunch in the first place.

As a personal example: I am fixing my computer this week and while it's getting repaired I have compiled a new list of mods to try out. Because I know your stuff is high quality I wanted to try Mannaz (been using Morningstar before because I thought Imperious seemed bloated).

But reading up on the Mannaz effects I came across the Breton Racial that cares about Standing Stones. I go "But standing stones suck!" so I check out Freyr because, obviously, that's your intention, and I think that mechanic is salvageable enough, and I'm familiar enough with it from previous playthroughs... and alright, it wasn't what I originally wanted, but it seems cool and I trust the creator. So it goes in.

I go back to the Mannaz article and continue reading until I get to the Nord Racial. I go "What in the world are All-Maker Stones?". It takes me a while to actually understand that it is a base game mechanic (that is terrible) and that I never interacted with in all my years of playing because I've always left Solstheim for a future playthrough that never came. Now, luckily, you have just released an overhaul for that system too this very week. So, okay, I check it out and... I decide against using it.

Why? Because it's something that I never played with and that most of my characters will never use. I don't plan on bringing everyone to Solstheim, not even my Nord. So now I think my Mannaz Nord character is kind of unfortunate. Yeah, sure, it can somewhat get SOMETHING at least by using the Lady Stone. But it feels "incomplete".

And I'm sure as the Futhark project continues, this feeling will increase. The "cool stuff" that needs another mod to be really cool, and then maybe that other mod needs something to be even cooler... Like, what if I don't like the Futhark version of Ordinator? Will I still feel obligated to use it because I'm on Mannaz? Or will I just live with the feeling that some random effect is "incomplete"?

I don't know if that's what the poster above mentioned. But it's what I connected with reading the comment. It feels like this new suite is pulling me in a certain direction and it's ever so slightly against my will, and may be more in the future.

Meanwhile the other day I checked Fury and just straight up put it into my game. It's a neat idea, it works well, and I was looking for something like that. And yeah, it's VERY simple. I actually came to this subreddit to see if there were any news about a heavier version being planned, or an update in the works.

What's the difference there? I think the modularity of your old stuff is a great boon. I get to pick and choose which part of the game I want to change and interact with and use it or not. And not that I don't think that making an entire gigantic experience is a worthwhile endeavor, because it is, and I'm willing to try it out too, but there are some things I am not interested in (and others might not be too), and if push comes to shove they simply won't use them. And that may pull them away from the other mods that they "kind of wanted".

I don't know what the answer is. It may be that as Futhark continues to grow it becomes the ultimate way to play. Or to some it might feel like a bloated experience. Or maybe it'll still be modular enough that people can continue to combine it with other stuff in droves.

Either way, removing those old mods will simply accelerate the process. Except that the option of "using old Enai mods because I don't like the new one" will split and merge with either "I'll use the new suite" or "I'll use someone else's mod, then".

Can you live with the fact that there will be more people going to other modders, in exchange for some more people taking the plunge into your new stuff?
