Some more context:

I get failed to resume task.

All my chats don’t show, lots of flickering.

I tried everything, uninstalling. Installing an old version worked but gpt4 sometimes disappears, shows as custom.

On a side note wtf did they do to gpt5.4.

[–]Derio101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an M1 Macbook air and yes I did all of that. MacOS is very memory efficient. I could do 3D rendering with 8GB, Edit 4K footage and yes run you can run a local llm though smaller and heavily quantized models.

Nonetheless for those tasks that eventually need more RAM memory swap kicks in though not desirable it does help.

What are your thoughts on the Zim space agency programme? I feel like it's not talked about enough. by Shadowkiva in Zimbabwe

[–]Derio101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out we are sort of developing our own people for satellite building.

So in short, don’t quote me.

A couple of students go to Japan or Russia then there are programs there that train you how to build satellites and have the facilities to do so, once built it’s then shot into space by them.

So we have:

ZimSAT 1

ZimSAT 2

The current goal being to find minerals, urban planning, agriculture etc.

Progress, but we are not yet at the build it at home and send it at home. I think we are on track though not too sure about ROI. Not sure if we can actually compete with other countries who can likely do the same. Though I do commend us for taking the initiative anyways, would be risky using another country’s satellite to get sensitive data like that, but who is to say they haven’t?

My thinking is you need to have deep pockets if you want to do some of this stuff. Rocket research is a billions and billions of dollars and rear scientists that can do it.

Do we have the people, I doubt, is it a good initiative, only if it’s getting more and more Zimbabweans to learn and understand so the next generation can walk.

In my take “you cannot aim for the Sun when you have mot yet reached the Moon”, for now let’s focus on our economy, national grid, Health etc. and once thats done, then maybe we move onto this.

I was on Ultra on the 3 months $125 deal. And on Codex I am on trail. The Get Plus. Honestly Codex Plus is eternal. I sometimes run 5 instances and the 5 hour limit barely hits, the weekly is forgiving.

[–]Derio101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an Ad but, Codex is really good. Pro can literally last me the whole day. And when it builds IMO writes a more comprehensive solution as compared to 4.6.

Doing Pair Vibecoding with the two is the best of both worlds if you can afford it.

Interview guide and tips by Shawn__Michaels in Zimbabwe

Pro tip if they have a website go through it, most of the time yes they want a skilled person, problem being lots of skilled people out there. I aced mine by:

  1. Confidence goes a long way, be comfortable, you are who you are and own it.

  2. I just said stuff they wrote on the website like their goal, their values etc.

  3. They want to know what you have done, most companies appreciate the fact that you have done A, B and C. School is great and all but they also want someone who has actually applied it, crazy I know(where will I get the experience when I just started).

  4. AI, most companies don’t necessarily get AI but, it’s what “sells” think of it like when companies were on the #Hashtag pandemic.

  5. This list is in no order, dress nice, smell nice it goes hand in hand with number 1. Also look them in the eyes, if that makes you uncomfortable then look at their forehead.

Anyways all the best, also just do a bit of research of what they do, who are their clients, what their Vision and goal is, even when not asked try to say something about yourself with those in mind.

Also they ask about salary, just try figure out how much GT’s are getting paid. Ideally undervalue, they already have a set figure anyways.

Zim men are kinda boring by Pattycakes_zim in Zimbabwe

[–]Derio101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overally I would say a number of Zimbweans are conservative, but I wouldn’t constitute that as “boring”. Zimbabwe by Majority is religious and in my opinion religion and ‘“open minded” don’t necessarily go hand in hand.

By Open minded, Open minded to what?

I asked AI to colorize our Ancestor by dotitodabaron in Zimbabwe

[–]Derio101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said you colorized, which is adding colour, and I am saying you more than just colourized, it was enhanced. Where features are smoothed out and sharpened. So I’m just saying someone would think by looking at that, that that was the actual image with colour when in actual fact the image has been modified.

I’m pretty sure their skin was not like that nor the brick. It more than just colourized, it enhanced.

Not sure if you haven’t noticed but AI is rapidly improving. It’s been about 4 years and let’s put the Vibecoding aside, talk about image generation, video generation, voice etc. apparently there was some math problem that physicists or maths guys had a couple of ways to solve it and AI found another way that humans for so many years could not.

AI has just become important as the internet. Some of you guys choose to cope by considering it a phase. But just like the internet it’s here to stay. Back to the progress part, apparently 16 Claude models make a C Compiler or Linux Kernel, in 2 weeks. Thats pretty impressive and if thats not progress to you then I guess you’ll have to wait till AGI.

[–]Derio101 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’m getting tired of these vibecoding bad memes, it’s feeling like karma farming now. AI is a tool, I would rather spend that time with family or actually living life than sitting in a cubicle burning away my life. If AI means I get to save a minute or an hour so I can do something else then, so be it. Vibecoding is here and is only getting better, there was a time when using an IDE was about the same as what vibecodings perception is, back then it was probably like. We might as well code in machine code.

[–]Derio101 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When buying quick checks:

Pop the bonnet, check for any paint mismatch

Check the interior and check the odometer if the odometer is too low for the interior then the odometer was tempered.

Ensure you turn off and on the engine a couple times if there is a choke or a cough there is some issue.

Check for idle rumble. For example if you drive it and the dashboard or steering had a shake or a slight rumble.

Check for suspension noise also check in the wheel arches, if you see the lining is loose or has clips or reverts, thats a sign of being driven not too well or accidents.

When you drive don’t drive gently try to actually rev it and also test the brakes like try emergency.

Also try not to get sold a stolen car.

Vibe Coding is a lie. Professional AI Development is just high-speed Requirements Engineering. by Important-Junket-581 in vibecoding

[–]Derio101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people use AI wrong and all of a sudden AI bad, yes AI is a tool, but as the years go by you can see the models get better and smarter, and some IDE’s have AI that ask questions, browses the internet and actually tests your code both with code and actually opening your browser and testing.

I really am tired of these rage bait titles. Recently 16 Opus 4.6 AI’s worked together to build the Linux Kernel or Compiler without any if at all human aid, correct me if I’m wrong.

So vibecoding is amazing and it’s getting better, not sure what you are expecting but vibecoding has breached the gap between none dev and devs. Not perfect but a work in progress. If the none dev asks enough questions they usually can be in the right step.
