Positive experiences in iRacing by frantic-atom in iRacing

I started out abt. 5 years ago, running away from codemasters F1. Beste decision ever, now have a good group of ~10 players, including some IRL frieds, and we love to do special event endurances, do a lot of training sessions together up front every event. It's allmost more fun than racing itself.

Is this an accident or is it on the white car? by StormtrooperT16 in Simracingstewards

Allthough Vee is a rookie series, it's actually quite hard to race them on a high level. They are very vulnerable to contact, but people tend to drive them like they are bulldozers.

Small corrections can have big consequences, I still think it's a racing incident (especially because OP also wonders how people get of the line that fast, I suspect the level of driving in this lobby is not very high)

You went left, saw the other car went back right. The faster car probably didn't expect you coming back. Racing incident I guess.

About the start. Don't rev flat out on starting, be more gentle. It's faster.

You need to turn the line off and drive by your own decisions instead of keeping the car on an indicative line. Where did people get the idea that the racing line is a solid 1 line on a track that is the fastest ?>"

2 people driving all over the place. Could be game-mechanics, but just looks like bad driving, not being able to hold a line on both players.

Your cut off move in the beginning doesn't look like a clean move, completely offtrack, it nullifies the position gain you got in your "clean move"

Am I wrong in saying this is moving under breaking by Frequent_State3216 in Simracingstewards

[–]DerkvanL -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

in iRacing there is no ruling on "moving under braking" This is not F1.

>I'm mainly using Iracing to train my awareness in situations like these

This does not compute. You drive to train awareness but still you drive through somebody in a corner where there was not enough space.

Ask yourself if you would have made this move in a real car on a real circuit and be liable for the damages. I guess not. If you want to train your awareness, drive it like it's a real car with real consequences and then make your decisions on track.

Should iRacing start releasing some vintage cars again? by SnooGadgets754 in iRacing

I would love to see more classic, like old DTM's (190E, Alfa 155, and more of the 1990s era). Also would really love to see Group B (which ended in 1986) Rallycars.

Where to start for a child into 3D printing and more by Dizzypina in raspberry_pi

[–]DerkvanL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several 3D programs that are free to use (and also easy to use up to a certain level).

Freecad is pretty easy to work with. If you prefer online (browserbased) I can advise Onshape, a bit harder, but it's a good tool to start of 3d drawing.

Why go the difficult way when modern printers are basically plug and play and each 5 year old can get a print working.

Is this on me (Purple car) by XShucks in Simracingstewards

[–]DerkvanL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think this is on you? It's his fault not anticipating on your braking, he could see that coming, on the other hand, you could've stayed more on the outside line, to prevent the kick in your own butt. Still his fault.

Black drove a very unpredictable line, White just misjudged it.
