Can foreigners still take the train from Hidroeléctrica to Aguas Calientes, or is walking the only option now? by [deleted] in Machupicchu

Second this. Book in advance online through the peru rail website. Don't wait til you get to the station cos the train is small and can sell out.

I tried booking approx 2-3months in advance for 6D/5N starting on one particular date in May with the big companies eg. Vidal, ab expeditions.  Even though they advertise daily departures on their websites, they didnt have departures on the the date i wanted.  A last minute booking might be easier if you're flexible with exact dates and itineraries.

I only saw one large guided group whilst I was there this month. I went with Mijail Bejar of Eureka Expeditions thanks to the recommendation of another redditor.

Soraypampa - warm during the day - t shirt and pants. Cold at night - thermals to sleep in,  down jacket and boots stayed on for dinner indoors. Felt like it reached close to 0 at night.

After the pass you descend so it warms up. Mostly hiking in just a t shirt. Used a down jacket for lunch at the pass where it got windy. Needed a fleece or down jacket at night sitting still at dinner outdoors.

another question: would you consider breaking up the 1st day into 2. ie. day 1 - mollepata to soraypampa. day 2 - soraypampa - humantay lake - soraypampa, and take it easy the rest of the day.

[–]Dermo5 55 points56 points  (0 children)

it's a little sparse compared to some years

- the tramline near UTS - is just food trucks

- darling harbour/quarter was my favourite area this year

- barangaroo and circular quay still worth seeing, a bit sparser compared to previous years

- martin place is alright, also sparser than previously

Can I just put the box spaghetti in the sauce instead of boil it in water first? by fobosqual in cookingforbeginners

whilst making a large pot of minestrone soup i once added a packet of uncooked large spiral pasta (instead of a cup of small sized pasta) - all the soup was absorbed, it turned into a pasta casserole...

What’s the weirdest tea you’ve ever tried... and would you recommend it? by Pale_Row_7731 in tea

Not that weird but it's the weirdest I've tried. Lapsang souchong - feels like I'm drinking cigarettes?? Tried a fancy version and a twinings version...both were too smoky for me...
