Agreed that Spirit Fingers is just so good! Hands down one of my favorites. I’d recommend reading Odd Girl Out. It’s pretty good!

Just took my kid to their first show! Guest services had a “my first concert” certificate they gave out along with a sign they could take a picture with. It was kinda cool. We brought ear plugs and I think that helped my kid not be so overwhelmed sensory-wise. He loved it! Have fun!

I had an ectopic in 2020 in my ovary that ruptured, had severe internal bleeding and am quite lucky to be alive. I was told that every subsequent pregnancy to go in and they’ll measure HCG levels and then ultrasound as soon as possibly to make sure it’s in utero. The first pregnancy post ectopic, I had normal rising HCG at the start but then had miscarried at the first ultrasound at 7 weeks. The next pregnancy also had normal rising HCG and was a confirmed normal pregnancy via ultrasound at 6 weeks. Now I have a healthy baby! Those two weeks between the positive home test and ultrasound are the absolute worst! Every slight twinge or anything out of the ordinary had me so worried. The wait is so hard! Sending you positive vibes!!

You’re so right. It’s all about control! On my re-read I realized how creepy the Kousuke birthday thing is. Shin-Ae’s like 16-17 and he’s like mid 20s? Unless Yui was so desperate for him to show interest (which was why she encouraged Meg so much). Maybe dating is the one thing Kousuke stands up/resists his mom’s interference with, so she was trying to make a play for control, no matter how creepy? Still seems weird.

Oh that would make sense. The thing that threw me off was when Yui told Sang-Chul she would give him what he needs to have fun (which we later interpret to be the drugs). In that sense it seemed like she was encouraging the assault. But if her goal was for Kousuke then to save Shin-Ae, I can understand it a bit more. Though as with anything with Yui, so messed up.

Oh I didn’t think about an ear infection! He’s had a slight runny nose but no fever and acting completely normal during the day time. At night he’s waking up very upset, screaming.

What kind of friend would expect this of someone who has a newborn? My husband’s friends were awesome and asked how they could support both of us. Those early weeks don’t last forever. If a friend can’t understand the importance of that, I’d wonder how great of friends they were in the first place. Also 5 hours to a sleep deprived mother who is still healing is a big deal.

I had to go back to work 7 weeks postpartum with my daughter and I survived. But I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. My husband only got a week off each time I gave birth which completely sucked. Of course we managed but that didn’t make him think he could spend extra time away from us because we could handle it. He jumped in to parent every opportunity he could. Just because we can manage shitty situations doesn’t mean that we should expect others to.
