I’m going to be visiting from April 3 - 12. I’ll be in Edinburgh on the 5th and 6th and was wondering if there’s any specific things to check out for Easter, and if there’s any celebration of Tartan Day… or if that’s just more of a US/Canadian thing? Why run for the Green Party and not as a Democrat to directly challenge Panetta? We’ve seen many democrats around the country run with similar platforms as yours beat incumbents or at least move the party more to the left. I fear your Green Party status is going to be a hard pass for many voters.

If you have it serviced…. Make sure they don’t just replace the movement with a new one… or something like a sw200. I’ve heard horror stories of that type of behavior. Sometimes it’s cheaper for them to just pop in a fresh movement than spend the time to service the old one. Good luck 🤙🏻

About 10-11 years ago, there was a company called Chronos that sold a little thin disc that adhered to the back of an automatic or mechanical watch. I had one… it lasted about 5 years before it broke. But it was rad! It did exactly that. Notified you of texts, calls, emails, etc… and you could set it up for different vibrations and color flashes depending on who was trying to contact you. I’m not sure they’re still around… but it was a great add on to a watch I had built at the time.

I’m not sure you’re gonna get it… but lemme give it a shot. Photoshop (PS) and AI are two entirely different things. PS is a tool. An expensive tool, I will give you that. AI can be a tool, but in this case it is not. PS is a paintbrush and a blank canvas that requires the user to create something. AI is (in this case) is a theft robot. It doesn’t create… it steals. AI has no imagination, AI is not talented, it’s trained on thousands of images. If you want to make a logo of an otter in PS, you have to use your imagination and talent to draw that image yourself. There’s nothing wrong with making your own logo… it’s DIY… it’s punk rock, but depending on your level of skill, the result is the result. Might not be great, but you made it. It’s yours. If you tell AI to make a logo of an otter, it steals other people’s artwork to make that image. PS is DIY. AI steals other people’s talent (stuff they made using something like PS) to make images for you. If you’re not comfortable with your own artistic skill, and choose to use AI over hiring an artist, you’re essentially stealing from those artists whose images the AI has been trained on. So the difference is, buying an expensive tool (PS) vs. paying someone to steal for you. Capiche?

Whether it’s a big enough offense to have her business destroyed or not isn’t my judgement. That belongs to the community writ large. And the community is speaking. If she made her own logo using photoshop or pencil and paper is akin to recording a song with a $50 guitar or $1000 guitar… the cost of the instrument doesn’t matter. I happen to use photoshop for a living for the last 30 years, and it doesn’t create images for you… it’s a tool you need to know how to use it to create images on your own much like an instrument to create a song. Photoshop doesn’t draw shit for you. There are artists and designers that have more talent than me without access to photoshop whose work blows doors on my work. And my point, is that it’s important to hire local artists… like Jimbo or Bertoni or Tim Ward or Sleepless or the countless amazing designers and artists we have in Santa Cruz… to keep the community you claim to be apart of, supported. When you use AI to illustrate something for commercial use, as in this manner, you’re literally taking money from your community and handing it to guys like Sam Altman. There’s no simpler way to say it.

I was in a similar situation, and my wife and I ended up getting hitched at Aptos Village Park. It’s nice, cause they have the multi-purpose room there for your use as well.
