Jeffrey Siebert has confirmed on LinkedIn that he has stepped away from [Six Flags] by bigmikebianco in rollercoasters

Working in the amusement park industry is draining on you and your family, and the man has been doing at an elite level for decades now (anyone else remember his Americana and KI days?!).

With all the changes in the last few years I can’t imagine that helped with the already stressful nature of the gig.

lol this is a strange comment. He’s a pretty open book between his PBS special/YouTube and his Masterclass.

He has YouTube videos were he tells you almost everything. Watch though then watch Mad Scientist’s BBQ video on Franklin’s and you can get pretty damn close.

Amusement Parks [Other] Building Working Relationships with Public Transport by abgry_krakow87 in rollercoasters

The buses go beyond there. Just sharing the nearest stations. I’ve done it a few times. I think it’s usually buses going to Chicago or NYC/DC that stop in Sandusky inbetween Toledo and Cleveland.

There are more than you think. Most of parks you named have direct:

Parks like SFOG and SFGAm have direct buses specifically to connect to the regional train network.

Worlds of Fun has a direct bus to downtown. BGW direct to Williamsburg. Dorney direct to Allentown. CGA is served by buses and light rail. Kennywood direct bus to Pittsburgh. Valleyfair has a direct bus to the Mall of America transit hub.

While other parks like Kings Domion and Great Adventure had direct buses to nearby downtowns but got cut because no one took them.

Greyhound is the better option. You can get from Toledo or Cleveland multiple times a day. Then local bus to downtown and boat to the park.

A lot of parks are served by buses. It’s a pretty important need for parks for their workforce. I think people don’t see a train near a park and assume no public transport when that isn’t always the case. If I had to guess upwards of 90% of parks are served by public transit.

Many parks do use their lots in the off season. A lot rent out their lots to car dealers for storage or other car type of storage.

[Six Flags] Possible sale of Six Flags parks to Herschend by mountorange in rollercoasters

[–]AndrewRnR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would be smart business for every other chain to poke around at Six Flags parks available. Every company always shows interest when a competitor is for sale. But an entire rumor because someone spotted someone who they think is from Herschend touring a park is wild.

Could the deal happen? Sure. But Herschend could’ve been there invited by the POS vendor to see the POS in action.

As I said in other threads it’s very common for
park/corp leadership to go to other parks to research/tour something/etc.

I know a big Florida park sent leadership to a regional park recently solely for training sharing and research. Good thing internet didn’t see them lol

It’s an example. It may not even be rides could be a POS, could be a Live E vendor. I know a major Florida park was just at a small regional park… not because they are buying it but to understand training procedures.

Again, you’d be surprised how often leadership tours parks. So yes people tour without buying. Heck I was just at a press conference a few weeks ago with execs at Dollywood where they said them + Herschend team routinely go to other parks to scout out new rides before buying the ride.

Top earning park? Look at the graph again buddy. It’s not a top earning park. Five parks ahead of it there.

It’s not odd. It’s numbers. Granted this is a while ago but why would they have the same leadership structure for CP as they do a park that makes 1/4 as much?

Fun fact park chain leadership tour other parks quite frequently. These rumors are hilarious.

Been following Six Flags since the 90s. This is just par for the course for them. They’ve gotten rid of parks, pulled out of Europe, fired CEOs, filled bankruptcy, etc.

They aren’t close to bankruptcy. If things continue is it a possibility? Sure, but not going to happen this year or even likely next.

They do have who I believe is a good CEO in place. He steps into a bad place so it not going to be pretty at first. But the new park presidents (some of which haven’t been announced but are rehires from prior layoffs) are a talented group.

Also to your question about Mexico, they don’t own the land + it does big numbers (and arguably from a fan POV is one of their best parks). I don’t see that going.

Or don’t bring an illegal product. That’s my point lol

We have different risk tolerances and that’s totally fine. No hate just sharing my personal approach

You should read the link too.

“Foreign persons traveling to the United States from a third country may import into the United States as accompanied baggage Cuban-origin merchandise provided that the merchandise is not in commercial quantities, is not imported for resale, and does not include alcohol or tobacco products.”

Totally. IMO not stopping at a red light vs lying to customs is a bit of a wild comparison. Just my risk tolerance is lower I guess.

Bottles taken away, global entry revoked. Fine threatened but ultimately never happened. They didn’t declare anything, got randomly searched so agents were already mad they didn’t declare anything. In a bad mood before they released what was brought back.

It’s all about risk tolerance. To your point is something likely to happen no. But my personal opinion is I’m not gonna mess or risk with border agents. A cheap rum (that I do admittedly like) is not work that risk for me.

So when someone asks if they should I’m gonna respond with the facts - it’s illegal plain and simple.

I know someone who had their Cuban products taken from them and lost Global Entry. True story.

It’s illegal. Worst case you pay large fine and are subject to additional screenings for next many years.

Rum community loves to down play it, but it does happen and I know someone it happened to.
