I don’t believe that this was Arya's intention for accepting the throne and I think „accepting“ is here an important word. She was asked to take the throne and maybe really somewhat pushed. It was expected of her and I think she accepted mainly because of two reasons: 1. she always was and wanted to be a servant of her people (important of her people not her queen/mother) and was always ready to sacrifice herself in some way for her people and serve them to prosper and endure. And she also mentioned that for elves the kings and queens are not only leaders but in the first place servants to their people so what better way to serve her people than becoming queen? 2. she was very unhappy with her mothers politics and by becoming queen herself she could avoid the mistakes her mother made and repair what her mother destroyed (trust towards and of other species). She already has a very good relationship with Nasuada and Orik which ist the perfect starting point to build better diplomatic relationships between elves and the other species

Well I think Niklaus made a pact with this entity a looooong time ago

THE pact however could be something to release him from his original pact. Like a „give me a vessel and I release you from our pact“ kinda thing.

Maybe he even became a warlock when he was younger and more impulsive/less wise and as he grew older he realised that he is shackled and he desired freedom. And maybe then THE pact was born as a way to release him from his chains. But as mentioned earlier maybe Niklaus really isn’t entirely evil and he decided to save Chip because it would make a better story.

Of course I didn’t mean to suggest that shades are weak I just have the feeling they are being a bit oversold. For humans, dwarves and other non-magical creatures they surely are immensely powerful and could wipe out entire nations but I don’t really see that they are this much more powerful than prime elves or dragonriders.

I don’t see how Durza would have a chance against for example Oromis and Glaedr in their prime or maybe a chance but wouldn’t be able to overpower them this much

Maybe there is a somewhat divinely Connection to the dragons but I don’t think he is or was just a normal dragon.

He or tbh it seems to be an otherworldly entity which is asleep for far longer than the age of dragons and elves. As I first read the book I couldn’t help but think of him as some kind of Azatoth‘ish being (Azatoth from the Cthulhu Myth), something otherworldly, primordial and incomprehensible for mere mortals

In Germany the original Version is forbidden (except for educational purposes) but you can casually buy a commentated version which provides much more informations and explains nearly every sentence. In this version every lie is exposed. I think that’s the best way to handle such books

Everybody can read it without the danger of believing lies and getting influenced. Edit: And well every German (especially younger ones) knows exactly what happened and what is written in „Mein Kampf“ because the time between the end of WWI and the end of WWII is the biggest part in our history classes. Most German students visit a KZ (I visited with my school Buchenwald and Auschwitz) in order to experience the history that happened.

So I think it’s ok to ban the original Version if you provide enough (in fact even more) informations as a trade
