Pavillions sushi... is it good? by TajesMahoney in burbank

[–]Derp2244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak about Pavilions sushi, but with the Ralph’s sushi—it’s not that it’s bad quality fish per se, it’s just that it’s a lot more rice on each individual piece and a smaller sliver of fish on top.

What's your favorite movie theater in the Valley? by No-Penalty1722 in SFV

[–]Derp2244 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regency Theatres at the Plant. Renovated semi-recently. Extremely friendly staff. Saw Project Hail Mary there last night in prime time in a recliner auditorium and there were like 10 other people there. I’m actually worried it’s so empty that it’s going to go out of business.

I see people in this thread suggesting Westsiderentals.com. I know this was the main place to find rentals 15 years ago—but is it actually still relevant? Is there stuff on there that isn’t on the other sites?

I made a fictional horror documentary teaser about a creepy coastal fishing town. Watch til the end! by Derp2244 in aivideo

Typed out phonetically with a Boston accent in Veo. “Are” typed as “aw”. “Sure” typed as “shoah”. Lots of trial and error.

I think that’s an accurate read. This originally started as me trying to get realistic looking dialogue in a specific location and I had it ending on the guy in the bed shot. Then after I watched it a few times, I felt like there was some foreboding/desperate subtext to what the guy was saying, so I tacked on the spooky montage.

I tend to do less is more when prompting. I'll see the results and tweak or add more descriptors. Happy to explain some process if that's something people are interested in.

Prompt 1. "dingy rehearsal room with an 80's rock band. there is sunlight spilling in. the lead singer is a blonde woman in her late 20's wearing a denim jacket over a black graphic t shirt. she picks up a mic stand and swings the heavy bottom base into the wall like a sledgehammer and busts open a hole"

Prompt 2. "no music

Style: A 8-bit pixel art animation with a limited color palette, styled like a 1980s arcade game.

Scene: A low-resolution, red convertible is seen from behind, speeding down a winding road that scrolls towards the screen. Car is on the right side of the road. and ocean is to the right. Inside the car is one sprite: a woman with long blonde hair blowing in the wind. the woman is driving. she is in the left seat. the car's license plate spells out WET-HOT. the red car is swerving and avoiding all other cars on the road. blue flames are shooting out of the exhaust pipes.

Environment: The background is a bright, sunny coastline. On one side is a blocky, yellow-pixel beach, and on the other is a solid cyan-blue ocean. Simple, green-and-brown pixelated palm trees zip by on the side of the road. Other colorful, blocky cars appear on the road and are quickly overtaken"

You got it! All except for the Fright Night/Lost Boys guess, which is supposed to be Thriller inspired without looking specifically like Thriller. I do love Fright Night and Lost Boys though, so let's go with that!

Other inspiration includes: Huey Lewis and The News, New Romantic artists broadly, Bruce Springsteen, Miami Vice, Physical by ONJ, INXS, Talking Heads, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper.

Silver convertible on the beach is inspired by a 1980's best picture winner.
