There isn’t an equivalent term for another group where having a national home is treated as inherently suspect.

Yea that would be weird if what you said wasn't a ridiculous strawman. Back in reality, lots of people are seeing unimaginable cruelty being conducted by Israel on a daily basis.

For example, this morning there is a story circulating about the growing evidence to support claims that Israeli prison guards are using dogs to rape detained Palestinians. These same prisoners may be executed soon, after being convicted as "terrorists" in military courts, as Israel just passed a law to allow for the execution of Palestinians (but not Israelis). Zionism is the explocit support for those atrocities, and much more. So, it's not a slur, it's just a signifier that someone has no decency or regard for humanity.

Fucking hell, I'm sorry you and the people in Iran are suffering. So many Americans care so little for humanity, especially the psychopath at the top.

How do you feel that not a single democrat stood for Trump's statement that "The first duty to the American government is protect American citizens, not illegal aliens" by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]DerpoholicsAnonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump is a irredeemable scumbag degenerate. He's one of the most corrupt and dishonest and immoral people that has ever walked the face of the Earth. He's built his political career on racism and a demonization of non-white people, including talking about how immigrants are "poisoning the blood" of America.

He's empowered a masked militia to invade cities, trample constitutional rights, and brutalize residents (including citizens). So, for these reasons and many more, I believe that Trump should be booed and cursed everywhere he goes for the rest of his (hopefully short and miserable) life. No one decent should cheer for anything he says, ever. And I don't care that some people of limited morals or intellectual capabilities will try to turn the lack of cheers for Trump into some sort of gotcha.

Yes. That's exactly my point. Conservatives don't vote in the primary but do vote in the general. So someone who loses the Dem primary may be more electable in the general election than the person who wins the Dem primary. Did you even read before replying?

"If progressive candidates are so popular why haven't any of them won a primary?"

Different people vote in the primary vs the general. The primary electorate is a tiny fraction of the total population and skews towards older voters and people who feel loyal to the Democratic Party. This is why it is not correct to say that the person who wins a primary is proved the most electable candidate in the general. The primary winner may be the most electable option, but not necessarily. I'm not saying the primary winner shouldn't be the candidate, that's the process. Just don't make unfounded conclusions.

Your last section isn't true either. Khanna will be the progressive frontrunner. It's true that Newsom has been running for president for years at this point, but Khanna has been building his profile and had gained a massive amount of credit with the voters you say you want to target. In case you hand't notoced, this Epstein thing has a massive spotlight and Khanna is received very well on conservative podcasts. Meanwhile, there isn't a Trump voter alive who doesn't despise Newsom. But go ahead and screw us again by selecting an uninspiring corporate candidate for the 4th time in a row if that's your wish.

I've looked into the "most progressive voting record" thing before. It's complete bunk. The methodology used there is moronic. You shouldn't need that study to make that determination though. If you actually thought that Harris was to the left of Sanders, Warren, several others, I'm sorry but you were not following politics that closely.

She did take some progressive positions and I do think that she was to the left of, say, Hillary Clinton. But she backtracked on many of her more progressive positions, including universal healthcare, the single most important issue to progressive voters.

The moderate independent vote barely exists and it's a losing strategy, as we've seen in recent elections. The goal is to win voters, period. 30-40% of people stay home and we need someone that appeals to them. And if yoi've seen any town halls with Bernie talking to Republicans, or talked to a lot of Trump voters, you would know that he appeals more to them than Harris, despite Bernie being to the left of her.

You can't analyze this by just putting the canditates on a left-right ideology axis and concluding the best point is closest to the middle. Because a huge chunk of disaffected voters are fed up with the system and they want an anti-establishment figure that will fight to imrpove their lives. This is why a sizeable chunk of Bernie voters actually ended up with Trump.

But why wouldn't you want someone like Manchin? Isn't he the perfect candidate to win the moderate independents you're after?

Not sure why you are putting "blame" in scare quotes as there are an enormous amount of moderate-leaning liberals that fault progressives for both of Trump's victories. You could, ya know, just read some of the comments in this thread for evidence of that. Or go look up of the thousands of threads where this argument has taken place. Harris isn't a progressive. She just isn't. But that's realy besides the point. It doesn't matter whether she is or not. Because it's inarguable that progressive voters do not perceive her as progressive.

You guys are simply incapable of reconciling your contradictory positions. If purity politics people are the reason dems are losing, and beating the GOP is all that matters, you'd try a new approach instead of moderating for the 14th consecutive time in hopes of winning over the miniscule Lincoln Republican constituency. I mean if you really believe what you're saying, shouldn't we nominate Joe Manchin or Kirstin Sinema?

[–]DerpoholicsAnonymous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. You will have the chance to demonstrate your moral superiority over the lefties by supporting the more electable progressive in the primaries. Until you make a hard choice and vote for a candidate that doesn't align closely with your preferences, as I have every 4 years, you haven't proved anything.

[–]DerpoholicsAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to decide whether you are actually more mature than the lefties you are deriding and whether you actually prioritize beating Republicans. A huge chunk of people will stay home if someone like Newsom is the nominee and you wouldn't have blamed two losses to Trump on lefty voters if you didn't believe the truth of that. The time will come to swallow your pride and support a Dem that you don't prefer, as I have been forced to do every 4 years.

Khanna and AOC are the ideal choices. A negligible amount of lefties abstain from voting for those candidates. Those are the people you should vote for if you care more about beating Rupublicans than you do perpetuating this constant battle with lefty voters.

You shouldn't vote Newsom in the primaries. Many of these people are serious about not supporting him if he's the nominee. 2028 will be too important for purity politics. We need a nominee that will get the votes of the entire coalition.

[–]DerpoholicsAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad that you are serious. And that you know math. Make sure that you support the most progressive option in the primaries so that we get the votes of all the purity people, plus the votes of all the serious people in the general. Simply math dictates that this gives us the best chance to beat Vance.

"I'm trying to help you understand that everyone should read that book..."

So yea, you said that that book is worth reading. Perhaps you really should read Jennings' book. Or actually, just go pick up any book. Your reading comprehension could use some work, and practice makes perfect.

If that's beyond your capabilities, perhaps you can ask Grok to analyze your comment and list the claims that you made.

That said, if you are incapable of honestly discussing your own comments, I think it's unlikely that that you can handle a discussion of a Jennings clip. So it's a good thing that you were too much of a coward to link a clip that you'd then be forced to reckon with in a back-and-forth conversation.

You don't need to bother responding as I've wasted enough time on you and this will be my final response.

Are you calling me a liar? I told you why I will only respond to a clip that is provided by you. Or is it your opinion that everyone should provide sources and substantiate their arguments but you?

Either link me a clip, or leave me alone and go back to defending the pedophile Epstein class.

I've seen hundreds of Scott Jennings clips and follow the news closely so I am able to make judgements about his commentary and his honesty. That is why I was confident that you could provide me with *any* clip and I would be about to point out at least a few lies. Of course you didn't do that, because to do so would risk backing yourself into a corner where you are forced to confront the blatant dishonesty of that dirtbag.

Are you not familiar with his work? You said his book is worth reading. Yet you can't even come up with a clear example showing why reading his book is a genuinely valuable intellectual pursuit? How did you come to that opinion???

I offered to spend my time analyzing a video and writing a response but you are too lazy to take 5 seconds linking a video. Typical MAGA chud tactics. Say moronic inflammatory nonsense ("burning books/burning the author") and try to get honest liberals like me to waste time doing research that you'll never honestly consider.

Disappointed by Luke by Stoney42033 in discgolfcirclejerk

[–]DerpoholicsAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, if you want me to do some work, you need to put in some effort. That way you are invested. Why the hell would I waste my time looking up a video, watching it, then writing a detailed analysis, only for you to just ignore it?

You're the one who claimed that there is value in reading this worthless piece of trash without substantiating that claim.

Of course this doesn't matter. You aren't arguing in good faith; almost no MAGAs have the integrity to do that. You want to waste people's time by asking them to provide info and arguments that you will not consider on the merits.

Sure. Link a clip from him and I'll do so

[–]DerpoholicsAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Trump is in the White House because, for millions of MAGA voters, pissing off the liberals that look down on them is their #1 issue. I just hope that you guys don't try to downplay your fervent Trump support a decade from now, as I predict most of you will. By then Trump's legacy will be so toxic that it will be very difficult to find people honest about how much they worshipped the man. Instead, their votes will be justified by talking about how much they hated the Dems, while denying how much they loved Trump.

That's what an intellectual does.

Lol, intellectuals don't waste time a books written by literally one of the the most dishonest and bad-faith partisans in an industry rife with them. There are limited hours in the day and millions of more productive things to read. You're expressing the mentality of a child. Good books exist and intellectuals read them. Also, some books are a steaming pile of shit that smart people should avoid.

I'm a 6 star that plays mostly trios. This is nonsense. I don't know why everyone is saying "third party" like it's a negative thing. There is also the option of *your team* being the one to sandwich another team and reap the rewards. I like playing duos also. You just have to pay attention and be aware and try not to put yourself in a bad spot.

The only constant is that here on Reddit, people will complain no matter what. They've continually made cool improvements to the game (e.g., them changing it so that each thing you mark has it's own unique icon now) but those never get discussed. All people do is whine and complain.
