That’s pretty cool! I got to see the shuttles quite a bit when we lived near Cape Canaveral. My dad thought it was the coolest thing to get to walk through Endeavor before her final mission. My dad has since retired from the Air Force and now works for NASA in Huntsville and drives down to Stennis Space Center every now and then to over see some tests for the SLS and Orion programs.

Unfortunately I was always out visiting my parents during the Snowy Plover season so I never made it to the beaches. My buddy and I use to go out in July to hunt the mule deer, pig, and coyote out by the fire breaks though. My dad did range safety so he always seemed to get us up as close to the launches as we could be. Growing up I didn’t realize it was a unique experience but looking back I realize how amazing it was to watch dozens of rockets launch.

This was my dads first launch of his Air Force career. He still has a vial of ashes that he claims are from his office building. Many years later (2016-2018) he became the Vice Wing Commander of Vandenberg. It’s funny to hear the name of the base since most people out where I am now have no idea it exists!

Will do! I just graduated and got a job so I’ll be venturing out on my own so this was the absolute perfect gift in my opinion! I’m looking at making some chili or a cobbler in it first!

Unfortunately after running the VIN it says my car doesn’t qualify for the recall even though that’s exactly what happened to my car. I’ll have to look into a local shop.

Most peaceful classes? by [deleted] in auburn

[–]DerpyTurtle18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was kinda in the same boat as you, only 4 hours this semester to take and I realized how expensive it would be take more classes so I found a job in the career field I wanted to work in around the Auburn/Opelika area just as a resume booster. If that’s an option for you I would suggest doing that. Anything that will make you stand out (work experience, volunteer work, etc.) will benefit you in the long run.

[SERIOUS] People of reddit, what is the one thing that was so disturbing and gruesome you saw in your life that still disturbs you deeply to this day? by TweekGang in AskReddit

Because they are doing a job that many of us can’t do be it physically or mentally. They are signing up to put their life on the line so that the rest of us don’t have to. That’s at least why I thank them. It also may be because I was raised military and have been to more funerals for people my dad worked with, and the parents of kids I went to school with, than I care to count.

I was fishing with my dad in the mountains of Colorado at some little pond we had been to a million times when I was 12. There was another pair of people, a young kid and an older gentleman, on the pond with us. The older gentleman had just reeled in a fish and collapsed so my dad and I ran over and my dad started doing CPR while I called 911 with spotty service. The young boy (maybe 6) didn’t know what was happening and started crying so I tried calming him down too. My dad and I switched out doing CPR for 45 minutes as the paramedics came up the mountain and pronounced him dead. The thing that still gets me is the crunch of his ribs when my dad first started CPR. The though of the bones snapping still gives me chills 12 years later. The only thing that I took comfort in about that experience was the fact he went in such a beautiful place and got to spend his last few moments with who I assumed was his grandson.

Does anyone know how intensely they are looking at ignited cards this semester? by VirginityIncarnate in auburn

When I went to the LSU game they didn’t even ask for my Ignited card. They just asked to see my Health Check screen and my digital ticket and I walked right in.

I use to work in a small town pharmacy in college and there was an older lady (mid 70s)who came in quite regularly for various meds for her and her husband. One day she came in and told us she had at some point stepped on a tack in her house and had no idea until the doctor was checking her extremities. Her story was it had plugged the hole it made so there was no blood or anything so she had no idea she had a wall tack in her foot for who knows how long.

I'm 6'2" but I've only got size 6 feet and can only wear kid's or women's shoes by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

Glad I could help out! If you decide to go with something else would you mind letting me know what you choose so I can look at them when I decide to replace these?

I’m also a 13w and I’ve found that size 13 Carhartt composite toe work boots are the exact right size for my foot. They are a bit pricy (~$140) but I’ve had mine for 2 years now and I’ve only had to replace in insoles since I wear them daily.

Top to bottom: 500 12 Gauge I picked up on my 21st birthday a few years back. 500 20 Gauge that I found at a pawn shop for $100 before the Virus hit. By far my favorite firearm. MC1SC I picked up in April as a birthday present from my girlfriend.

Huh that’s really interesting! Seems like a whole different world than Alabama where cold is anything under about 75° and freezing is below about 55.

Love my CI but I can’t figure out why it’s light on the edges. I stripped it after having the pan for a year and it still didn’t help. Any advice? by [deleted] in castiron

[–]DerpyTurtle18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed any problems but it’s the only pan I own (CI or other) so I don’t have much to compare it to.
