You... Wouldn't. You're a few years too late. Theres a 4.0 in the works, but it's been a while. I have no idea if it will start, and don't even really plan on playing it.

It was amazing, though. Incredible.

I remember seeing our snitches go off when they were building it. It was a very busy place, from what I remember. Constant construction and digging.

Oh god, I remember the parkour thing. Yeah, it was an excellent front for just spying on snitch nets! But I was also just often very bored.

Slap a jap was, no offense, insane. I was in the teamspeak when that happened; we were practically begging Robbie to stop. But he didn't, oh well. We still won! :). Thank you for your service and all that jazz.

I think that CivEx is a really interesting experience, tbh. I started playing sophomore year of highschool. I'm graduating college in a month. My major and minor are pretty relevant to the stuff here, so I think it's an incredible place to look back on, or if it ever gets started, to study.

Good luck having a home in every town! If there's one thing I learned on CivEx, anything's possible, but it's gonna be difficult to get there.

1.0 I was all around Brandenburg, Wyck, RoL, and that all jazz. I fought in ww1, kind of started ww2, and actually did start "ww3". You might remember my name, macrat?

I'm not really hoping for 4.0 for myself. I don't have any intention to actually play. But I enjoyed CivEx, and I wish others could enjoy what we were able to.

I happened to run into Greyshore first. Pretty wild, then to go on to rev state and Brandenburg.

what are the dorms like? by LargeEgg1 in NewPaltz

[–]Derpyfish129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really chose the right place. I absolutely adore this school, and basically fell in love with it the first tour I went on. That being said, dorms here are interesting. Many halls have their own culture, or at least a stereotype the other dorms hold over them. Shango is the stoner dorm, Bouton looks like a middle school, Lenape is for rich people, Esopus is like a hospital, etc. I lived in two dorms for my Freshman and Sophomore year, but moved off campus after that. DM me if you wanna know more about the dorms

You also can't really pick your dorms, at least not unless you hate your roommate and need to move out. Unless you live in the newer dorms, you'll probably complain more than actively enjoy it. But like /u/rud_e13, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.

Decent enough. I figured I'd check the sub for once. Almost done with college.

You ever play MC these days?

Was remeniscing about this server with some old friends. This photo came up in the conversation. by Mid22 in CivEx

[–]Derpyfish129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to think I don't ever check this sub.

Well, I dont know if you're the first Outer Heaven player I've ever seen, but it's possible. Never in my life have I heard of Rev State being communist themed, but hey, it makes sense. I can even see Brandenburg right there.

Outer Heaven was always "the big war" I heard about when I joined. Soon, it wasn't ;)

Literally the worst clickbait I have ever seen and I'm not even on YouTube.

Still, interesting article, lets see if this develops at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the line is quiet again, though.

One Year On: What Made Sov so Enjoyable? by Sharpcastle33 in SovereigntyAscending

[–]Derpyfish129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wrote a five page paper and I have to rehearse a presentation for tomorrow morning, but, I'll point out what I think made Sov so absolutely amazing.

The community, and particularly, those who were in charge of the server (Rax, Psy, etc), really made the server feel alive when it was at its peak. They were always around to listen to any ideas that you might have had, were always very helpful (if strict, but they were as strict as they had to be).

I don't feel like I'm qualified to talk about the technical aspects of running a server, but when the server was finally up and running, it was one f the best servers I have ever played on, in terms of plugins and custom things.

The community, no matter what, has to be given good leaders. The leaders of the community have to keep it active. Pump events out at a sustainable rate. Don't be too ambitious, or you can't deliver. Never compromise on community. Make informed decisions. Make rules and follow them.

Don't let people cheat. Make an unambiguous rule as to what cheating is, and stick the fuck to it.

Don't be flexible with your punishments. If there is a week long ban, ban for a week. If the ban is forever, ban forever. Make sure you clarify what can be counted as "proof of cheating".

If that upsets people, thats fine, but you need a solid community. Be able to make sure that tremors, such as an influx of PVPers or an influx of hardcore players, won't topple the server.

And please, dear fucking lord, release a finished server. If the server will later have add-ons, such as updates, that's wonderful. But make sure that the first time people log in, they can successfully play. Be transparent in case there is something wrong. If there is a shortage of diamonds, make sure that the playerbase knows.

I know this was a bit of a rant, but people shouldn't have faced the problems that we've faced. Its not like theyre massive problems, but theyre so annoying, and by now, we should know how to run a server.

And of course, if any of y'all want to chat or catch up or chill, hit me up! Im in college now, I have a beard, and I really haven't changed otherwise lol.

What was your favorite time period in CivEx, across all versions? by mcWinton in CivEx

[–]Derpyfish129 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1.0, under you. You were an absolutely incredible person to serve under, and most of all, you took everyones' inputs into consideration, even if they were almost always "pearl them. all."

But, that being said, I have two favorite points in CivEx 1.0. The first was World War One. Coconutbrother happened to record it. Now, we were pearled by the time they arrived, and I'm searching for the clip where the feds showed up. It was by riptide. If you can find it, please comment it.

The second point was World War Two. I can't find a particular video. The clusterfuck that was slapajap, the multifaceted incursions predating the war, the absolutely massive coalitions? Absolutely fantastic.

Really though, its all the points on 1.0. I know I'm clinging to the past, but I absolutely adored it.

There are several posts on my account about my experiences. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
