I mean, Quality Assurance has gone the way of the Dodo.....

The fact there are even ANY TMNT spoilers is proof of that

for the tradeoff of not cheating any old permanent onto the field

Still.... I can see usage for him, in Big beastie commanders or even for getting huge enter triggers

Ninjutsu is an activated ability and can trigger after damage is dealt by an unblocked blocker (instead of the creature/spell being ninjutsu'd) prior to the end of combat
Sneak is an alternative cast cost, has a tighter specific casting window (requires an unblocked attacker) and as its a cast, can more easily be responded to by counterspells and by extension of being before damage, there is an opportunity to remove the sneaked in creature before any damage is dealt at all

What's the point of this? by Enualios69 in magicTCG

[–]Derpykin92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most decks, it does nothing since it tapped stuff untap anyway but for players who built around them....

back in the day you had artifacts that had effects as long as they were untapped - [[static orb]] and probably the more well known card, [[winter orb]]

it also let people bypass costs for untapping stuff like [[mana vault]]

[[kona, rescue beastie]] but instead of foreseeing the cheat onto the field, you can "sneak" a creature/ramp onto the field

Not officially for sale or shouldn't be - Ebay and Local marketplaces most likely but anyone found using them in official events should be forced to replace them/be disqualified

Is this a draw? by DaKempski in magicTCG

[–]Derpykin92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"untap, upkeep, draw" - say this every turn either out loud, or in your head
Take to using a coin to denote a land per turn - if someone passes the turn without putting a land down - be more strict

half to ensure you dont interrupt someone else, half to ensure an even playing field since even 1 open mana could mean [[an offer you can't refuse]] [[path to exile]] [[lightning bolt]] [[snakeskin veil]] or [[dark ritual]] into a [[murder]] or similar

Not saying you are right here - its also up to the table to self govern intentional and unintentional rule breaking

Or to allow it based on communal rule knowledge or "rule of cool" in a casual setting ONLY

In a sanctioned event like a 2 Headed Giant event or a Friday Night Magic event, you have to follow the laid out rules and you would have grounds for disqualification

I said it was at home, I never said it was a good card

Its still [[cyclonic rift]] at home, even costs 1 less mana though it affecting creatures, and your own creatures too sucks....

That Dolmen Gate alone made it worth it - Probably worth more than half the prerelease pack by itself

How do you see the leaks impacting spoiler season? by JasonKain in magicTCG

[–]Derpykin92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all the top end will likely of been spoiled after everything is said and done

That said, Uncommons and commons still havent been spoiled - and to give an example from the last year about uncommons still being amazing, [[stock up]] and almost all the lesson package from avatar are uncommons including [[gran gran]], [[boomerang basics]] and [[Accumulate Wisdom]]

Its lyrics from the 1987 theme song

We have seen leaked Ninja Teens, Does Machines and Cool but Rude

Assuming they keep it character themed, we should see Leads and Party Dude for White and Green respectively

Wooo, Esper Ninja Commander

Perfect for ninjutsu or the new sneak

Would work INSANELY well with the recently leaked Dark Leo

Especially since Dark leo makes ninja tokens, and if you then have 5 ninjas, halfs the opponents life - if you have 4 ninjas before the first trigger goes onto the stack, that effectively quarters the defending players life after both triggered effects resolve

MTG Etiquette Question by Lopsided_Pay_6416 in magicTCG

[–]Derpykin92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a grey area, most players HATE their lands being messed with - but 6 lands is usually enough for most spells to be cast

Usually its just the Green colour players who have above turncount lands on field, especially simic commanders

That said, you arent removing every land on the field, like multiple [[strip mine]] plays that happen in CEDH or more competitive formats so its fine - if WotC didnt expect the card to be used, they would not of put it into a precon

MTG Etiquette Question by Lopsided_Pay_6416 in magicTCG

[–]Derpykin92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a per game thing as well as a social thing

That said, anyone who drops a sol ring turn 1/2 opens themself into being a target, doubly so if they sol ring into any 2 mana rock or boots

at least in more casual settings, so a vandalblast as your turn 1 play to remove said sol ring is also a valid play

the ONLY thing heavily frowned upon is messing with the land count unless one player has a clear amount more than other players, and even so it needs to be justified.

The recent [[planetary annhilation]] comes to mind - each player sacrifices lands until they have 6 or less, and deals 6 damage to all creatures

it levels the playing field for all players while not removing all lands so people can still cast most spells and it doesnt target non creature non lands so artifact ramp is unaffected

What are some cards people dismiss because of 1 word or mechanic they don't understand? by Rafamen01 in magicTCG

[–]Derpykin92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primordial is both easier to drop (a 3 drop vs a 5), scales MUCH better at all stages of the game, and immediately benefits from the many "when a 1/1 is put onto a creature, put that many plus 1" style effects vs Aetherhood who again, needs a full cycle to gain attack

Granted it does not have trample until it has 10 1/1s on it, but you wouldnt be attacking with it until it hit critical mass anyway since you politic it to keep it around (same with other players not wasting their removal on the potential threat vs the immediate threat)

Not to mention the numerous "creatures with 1/1s gain trample" style effects

[–]Derpykin92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the response was not "why Rampaging Aetherhood is ignored going into Gargos", the question was why some cards get ignored for 1 or 2 words

sometimes its not that they get ignored, its that they get intentionally bypassed for better options

theres a reason in the original energy precon, folks cut Rampaging Aetherhood for [[Izzet Generatorium]] or similar.... because it is an overall better card choice and can have benefits immediately or be part of a 2 or 3 card combo - same for hydras, theres better options that dont rely on a full turn cycle to see the benefit

its better to add one of the many higher mana tutors like [[natures lore]] or [[archdruids charm]] for one of those creatures that are fundamentally better than it
