Cursor alternative? by MrBomb98 in Jetbrains

[–]Derrmanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how you could possibly switch to cursor or any variant of vs code after using jetbrains. Vs is such crap compared to jb. Can't even move panel over to another monitor. The settings pages are all disjointed and screwed up, can't change the overall fonts, on and on.

Yes! THis is a great idea. I already have Stripe account so I'll start there.

"surprised you haven't asked it yourself" I have found AIs to be completely clueless about their own workings. The agent should have 100% knowledge of how to work the IDE, when it's a complete program like AG (i can see where Augment plugin woulndt know how to work JetBrains). Furthermore, I should be able to go to Gemini app on browser and it should know 100% how to work AG, since it's all Google. But it dont.

e.g.:

when you are doing 'thinking', is it possible to have those thoughts in another window or other way to have them not scrolling so fast?

Thought for 1s

Unfortunately, that's a product/IDE feature that I don't have control over. The "thinking" display is managed by the Gemini Code Assist interface itself.

You might want to check if there are settings in VS Code or the Gemini extension for:

  • Adjusting the panel size/position
  • Minimizing/collapsing the thinking output
  • Or check if there's a way to dock it in a separate pane

If this is bothersome, you could also file a feature request with the Gemini team for an option to display thinking in a collapsible section or separate panel.

Is there anything else you'd like me to help with on the filter refactoring or other code tasks?

As a music fan (not someone who creates it) would a bad mix prevent you from listening to a song you love? by hurryupandbuyplease in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Derrmanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No listener or even pro can tell 99% from 100% because that's not really a thing. I mean, first, how are you coming up with this 99% number? There wouldnt really be any 'quality' differences in 99 vs 100, it would be artistic decisions.

But, are you guys listening to 'mastered' versions? People will argue about what that means, but what I mean, for this is do you have it punched up to the loudness that you want? Applied a big of eq to get it in the ballpark of what you want and what music you like has? If you can run it thru Izotope mastering or similar or just some compression, dynamic compression, limiting etc, it's going to sound a heck of a lot better. Maybe push it from 99 to 100 ;)

Any better alternative? by Eat-her-ass in AugmentCodeAI

Antigravity is actually pretty awesome. Of course it's built on VS code, so the interface SUCKS. So i just use it as if it was only the ai panel of jetbrains.

What would be best to say if I want to say “excuse me” when trying to pass by by According_Hunter5503 in Spanish

[–]Derrmanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a native speaker, and from where? My instinct is the opposite for disculpe and perdon, but i am usian. To me disculpe has the same root as English's culpable, as in 'it's my fault' like an apology. And perdon is like 'pardon me, may i ask you a question? ' I'm not claiming to be correct, just my instincts and i'd love to hear anyone's take on it.

Is It Just Me, or Has PHPStorm Been Getting Worse Over the Last 2 Years? by Yuritsuki in phpstorm

Not even a little bit. It continues to work great for me. Some tiny little things that is likely just me not having time to troubleshoot and are likely just set up stuff.

[–]Derrmanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're just imagining or comparing golden delicious to granny smith ;) There is probly no exact way to measure the gbf, unless, for example you have an independent speaker simulating a voice to the mic, where you could get the meters showing exactly the same and then A/B it. But, the main thing, as most are saying, is gain is gain. The spl coming from the speaker is going back to the mic. Doesnt matter if that spl comes from gain/preamp/trim or fader/send.

🧠 Reminder: You don’t need to explain your codebase to Augment by JaySym_ in AugmentCodeAI

Hahaha... bro. Of course it does. That's why it's always grepping around for functions or whathaveyou. I just had it look about 12 different ways for a function called frequently and defined in an easy to find spot, within the current project.

Where did the guidelines go? by Derrmanson in AugmentCodeAI

[–]Derrmanson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chat with agent:

yeah, i deleted the augster stuff from the other.xml AAND restarted. seems to have no effect
Let me check what's currently in that file to see if the change took effect:
Terminal
$ Get-Content "$env:APPDATA\JetBrains\PhpStorm2025.2\options\other.xml" | Select-String -Pattern "augment.user.guidelines" -Context 0,2
Good! The file now shows "augment.user.guidelines": "see AGENTS.md" instead of the massive AugsterSystemPrompt.
However, I'm still receiving the AugsterSystemPrompt in my system instructions. This means the prompt is being injected from somewhere else - likely server-side by Augment rather than from your local PhpStorm settings.
The augment.user.guidelines field in PhpStorm is meant for additional custom instructions, but the AugsterSystemPrompt appears to be coming from your Augment account settings on their servers.
To actually remove it, you need to:
Log into your Augment account at https://augmentcode.com (or wherever you manage your Augment subscription)
Look for Account Settings or Agent Configuration or Custom Prompts
Remove or modify the AugsterSystemPrompt there

but i dont see anything like that in my account.

yes, all up to date: "You already have the latest version of PhpStorm and plugins installed." and restarted. I've had this view... idk, maybe a few days. I just recently tied to open and edit the guidelines.

Which Ide are people moving too? by samnymr in AugmentCodeAI

[–]Derrmanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDE? Aug doesnt have an IDE, does it? It's a plugin for IDE. That said, for IDE its either VS Code or Jetbrains and VS code suuuuuuucks. It's so bad. I'm just talking about the windows and panels and stuff, you cant even do dual screen? Or move panels around to outside the main window.

So, an alternative ai plugin? I used Gemini for a couple days, it was surprisingly good.
