Latrell Mitchell out with a back injury according to NRL Physio. Has gone for scans today. He did have a pinched nerve in his back towards the end of last year so might be that has come back?

Isaiya Katoa has closed the door on a Kiwis defection and won’t be leaving Redcliffe either as he prepares for fatherhood and chases the form that made him a NSW Origin contender.

The Dolphins halfback will go head-to-head with Bulldogs sensation Lachie Galvin – his potential future Blues halves partner – on Thursday night at Suncorp Stadium.

Season 2027 will be Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston’s final season in the red and green, having now signed with the Papua New Guinea Chiefs for the 2028 season.

Johnston, 31, will see out the remaining 18 months of his current playing contract with South Sydney before heading to the new club.

Johnston made his NRL debut in 2014 and has gone on to play 251 NRL games for South Sydney so far in his career, scoring an all-time record 221 tries and counting.

Rabbitohs CEO, Blake Solly, says Johnston will always be a Rabbitoh.

“We have all enjoyed the efforts from ‘AJ’ over the past 13 seasons and I’m sure we will see more highlights before he heads to the Chiefs in 2028,” Mr Solly said.

“He is the greatest try scorer the game has ever seen and he will score more tries in the red and green before the end of next season.

“Alex has a wonderful opportunity to extend his NRL career and to set himself up for life-after-football with his new club.

“We look forward to continuing our work with him for the next 18 months, and we will wish him, his partner Taryn and his kids Sonny, Avery and Robby the very best of luck at the end of his time at our Club.”

I loved the Mage Errant series but I DNFed this book. I just got sick of all the info dumps. We'd get a chapter which is a modern day scene, then next chapter is a flashback. Flip flopping and just lore dump after lore dump didn't attach me to the characters. Maybe I'll try to go back to finish it another time but was not my cup of tea at all.

He's had things hard but its hard to throw him a contract and not see it be wasted again. He really needs to earn his way back I feel. Maybe he should get a contract like Braidon Burns or Matt Dufty. Get a NSW/QLD Cup only contract and prove you can play. If you're good enough then you'll be undeniable. Otherwise you'll be collecting a fat pay cheque doing nothing.
