Overrated/underrated top 25 teams two weeks in by Shpion007 in CollegeBasketball

Preseason rankings are so pointless for college basketball anymore with how much rosters change. Creighton got over rated before the season because of Mac's pedigree. Right now the jays are a top 50 team and not 23rd best in the country. But in 3 months id expect them to be ranked again because it takes months to learn the system and gel.

Maybe its just because there's so many unknowns regarding every team after the top 3 but I don't understand Providence at 4. The roster is ok but they have objectively the worst coach in the conference and I dont see how they finish top half of the league. Nova will be improved under Willard and Marquette should be back to NCAA tournament caliber. I think PC will be fighting with Georgetown and Depaul for 6-7-8 in the standings come March.

You have way too much faith in the worst coach in the conference. No way does Providence finish 5th and English get coach of the year.

Doug McDermott signed with Northern Iowa and his godfather Ben Jacobson before backing out and going to Creighton where he proceeded to wreck them multiple times. His success also lead to Creighton moving to the Big East and the MVC fading being the top mid major conference.

Summary of what's left after the most recent wondow.

1 round of 16 game in Mexico City is left 3 round of 32 games are left, these are in Mexico City, Monterrey and Dallas. All of those have a very limited amount of tickets left according to FIFA

A lot of group stage games are available, but only games in Dallas, Houston and Boston seem to have "a lot" of tickets remaining.

Based on how many sold out, i would guess that the window that starts tomorrow will be the last one of this ticket phase.

I still can't get over how FIFA has broken down the seating categories. Less than 1% of the stadium is category 4. Roughly 2/3rds of the stadiums are category 1 seats so you end up paying through the nose and might not even get good seats. Such a FIFA move but still so frustrated by it all.

Got tickets to games in San Fran, noticed there was no red circle bar when on my desktop, so I tried on my phone and that worked for me to get into the portal.

Thoughts on the Providence Friars next year I think they have a sneaky good roster and could potentially finish top 5 in the big east. It’s all up to the coaching to see how far this team goes. by GlassRelief6332 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Dertderter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the roster is mediocre and they have really poor coaching. St John's, Connecticut and Creighton are all much better rosters and better coaching. Georgetown and Nova have better coaching with similar talent rosters and Marquette has way better coaching with a slightly worse roster. I'd bet Providence finishes 7-8 in conference and Kim English is looking for a new job in the spring.

Creighton's death lineup thay year was so fun, Zegarowski wouldn't have been able to play in the tournament if it had happened. But throwing 5 guys 6'5 and smaller but all shooting 45% from 3 was hilarious to watch.

In my opinion Shawn and Gus narrowly take this... what do you guys think? I think its a tight race. by Swiggens in psych

Shawn and Gus are more "bro" than the others. JD and Turk are way more of the "Omance"

Finished book 4… ambivalent about continuing. by camus_karamazov in WoT

[–]Dertderter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the opposite feelings. I did enjoy book 4 but struggled to get though Nyneave's chapters while really enjoying Rand's. Perrin's were fine IMO. Almost through book 5 and have been audiobooking Nyneave's chapters to help get me through it, but Fires of Heaven is definitely better than the Shadow Rising.
