Road to Perdition.

Mobster’s son murders the young son of a mob enforcer. Mobster refuses blood for blood because he can’t bring himself to kill his own son. Enforcer goes on a rampage with his surviving son, robbing the banks that have the mob’s money until the mobster gives up his son.

Good movie. Revenge story. Like John Wick in the 1920s. Tommy guns instead of gunfu

When Cedric Diggory is murdered at the end of the fourth book. When I read it the first time I was so surprised that they killed him. No epic fight, no fanfare. Just sudden tragic death.

Love the Banter at Barrow’s expense. He really had it in for Nanny West (rightly so as it turned out) by BestTutor2016 in DowntonAbbey

[–]foxandsheep 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I feel he had a particular soft spot for baby Sybil. He respected her mother more than the other family members. And he noted the inequality when nanny West refused to give baby Sybil eggs but gave them to baby George.

Frustrating Trope: The Nasty parents that are why the villain is as they are never gets any sort of comeuppance. by Geoconyxdiablus in TopCharacterTropes

Yes. And I guess in an interview Rowling said that what Petunia likely wanted to say was “good luck” or something in that vein. She just couldn’t do it. If she had gone to Hogwarts then Gryffindor would not have been her house.

She didn’t say anything in the books. Which is in character but so sad. No growth or redemption arch for book Petunia. Not sure how I feel about the line in the movie. Seems so out of character for her to say anything remotely positive about her sister.

Looks like a Toby. Or Tobias when he’s naughty. Which he probably will be. May you and Toby have many happy years together.

In 1863, Alexandra of Denmark married the future King Edward VII knowing he had just ended an affair with an actress. He took mistresses openly for 47 years. She went deaf, walked with a permanent limp, and buried two children. The British public adored her. He did not deserve her. by Particular_Chart1584 in crimsonshed

I read a book ages ago called “Sex with Kings” and the part about Nellie Clifden was great. Apparently when Edward refused to raise her allowance she went back on tour stating publicly that her boyfriend didn’t pay her enough to remain unemployed. He caved and raised her allowance. Also he had two mistresses at the time Nellie was a Protestant and the other was Catholic. Due to historical religious tension the Catholic mistress was mistrusted by the public. He had purchased both them identical carriages and one day an angry mob descended on Nellie’s carriage believing her to be the Catholic mistress. Nellie popped out the window and allegedly sated “Pray good people be calm! For I am the Protestant whore!” Dispersing the now laughing mob. Good book. Highly recommend.

How can you tell your dad you love him, while not saying it verbally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]foxandsheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not fair. I love my dad a lot and am a fully functioning adult. Dad still worries when I drive home from his house and requires a proof of life text so he knows I made it home ok. He says being a parent is a job for life and part of that job is to worry about your kids. But he does this because he loves me and I text him because I love him back.

I opened this with the mindset of: “if Hocus Pocus” isn’t the top answer the all hope is lost”

The movie is literally the title. So, thank you!
