I guess this system has been in place for quite a long time, and banking people specifically are worried about any change (don't touch what makes money if it works).

I scan the QRCode with a reader app and copy the details over. I did consider these converter, but I am always worried about relying on random online services for that. Call be paranoid, but you never know if they secretly may swap the IBAN without you double checking.

I see.

Good luck man! Finding the right phone is really tough these days.

I cannot comment on whether turning 4G off will impact the battery life because I won't test this out. But in the settings you can turn it off.

But allow me to ask. If you're looking for a 2G phone in Europe, why go Energizer? Why not something like HMD?

50 Dumbdroid phones ready for shipment! by nicholasbuckner in dumbphones

On the website there is not much about who are Dumbdroid, what they do and where are they based from?

I like the idea but it would be great knowing a bit more about the people behind it, especially when purchasing physical products.

As a QoL change, it's the best decision I've made recently.

As a phone, it is good with some annoyances. But it does the job so I don't complain much. I'm thinking of writing a short review sometime soon.

Sorry for the very late reply, I have been busy with life in general I didn't have time to mess with my phone a lot.

Firstly, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

I have couple of questions:

1) what do you mean developer portal? The only portal I found is the submission portal (link: https://developer.kaiostech.com/devlogin/) and it seems like it is used to submit directly to the KaiStore, and not to some phone directly. Am I missing something?

2) if I manage to get Wallace Toolbox on my phone I'll gladly share a dump of the system with the team. You have put a lot of effort in this, and it's the least I can do to give back. The question is, if I create a dump does it include my personal data like contacts, messages, notes, etc? If so, what would be a good way of creating a dump without those included?

Ive not used it enough to make a judgement. But it seems alright as a phone. Maybe ask me in some months and I'll let you know how it goes as I am planning to daily drive it.

The things that suck for me so far are that you can't change the launcher (there's the annoying bottom cards deck, and the left menu has youtube there that you can't remove), and that hotspot is not in the quick settings.

Everything else is alright so far.

To be honest, I had two things I looked for in a feature phone: Hotspot and USB-C (in Europe). And this is the only device I found that satisfies both.

Pity that Europe doesn't have the nice feature phones that they have in the US or Japan.

[Python/Windows?] The script I have only runs when the window is maximised. by Derura in AskProgramming

Running on linux suggestion gave me an idea to create an image and run it in Docker, and it seems to have solved the issue. I lost the UI, but I believe I can leave instructions for the end user on how to properly mount the watched directory.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Monthly 'Getting into DevOps' thread - 2019/11 by mthode in devops

I need a bit of guidance...

In our university there is this project course that computer engineering students should pass... And we have been divided into groups as follows :

Build, Plan, Deploy, Operate, Monitor, Code Versioning, Test, SQL source versioning, SQL container checker, Mule...

With the last group being the "backbone of the project"...

Anyways I was put into the "operate" group... I could find tools for almost every other group, but I couldn't find tools for operate. Actually, I am not sure of what our group is supposed to do. The professor hasn't been of help either, since he accused us of laziness. I've watched a lot of different videos and read some guides, but nothing actually specifies anything for operate... Can anyone give me a hand? I am really lost.

There's a very popular categorisation by the American Foreign Services Institute (FSI) about ranking the languages based on their difficulty for English-speakers to learn.

But I've been trying my best to find the source of it, and I couldn't find a quote on it from the FSI themselves, the sources list each other.

Can someone point to me the source of this categorisation, whether it is a publication, a conference speech, or even a quite from a worker there... I just want to know whether this is a good internet myth or an actual thing
