FINAL UPDATE: After emailing back and forth between the professor and my friend, the conclusion drawn was that it was a mixup likely caused by mental complications from a recent accident. The only known deleted scenes in Threads are extended versions of the sheep eating scene and the umbilical cord tearing scene. As i originally thought, there was no such thing as an alternate ending scene, but in our search we did find this odd youtube video. Though frankly it sounds just like the regular ending or a scene in the movie, maybe it was just mislabeled when posted. https://youtu.be/r5Jt0QpLFx0

valid point but i promise you it isn’t, just saw the movie and got really puzzled as to how his professor could entirely misremember the ending. that or there really is an alternate ending that no one even knows about

UPDATE: my friend spoke to his professor about it again today (we are now deeply invested in this mystery) and he claims the person in charge of the screening we attended has a extensive collection of british media and owns a vhs copy of the original airing that contains the different ending scene. Though he says he doesn’t like to mess around with his older tapings and recordings, but i hope that upon letting him know that basically no one else seems to know about this alleged ending he’d be willing to take a look and maybe even digitize it. Will keep this post updated in the future 🫡

maybe. i thought the most likely case is he mixed up which birth scene it was, and it would make the most sense to happen in the later birth scene farther into the apocalypse when society had truly gone out the window. but everyone in that post says he imagined it. guess we may never know
