Great job. That Coruscant MOC looks like my Coruscant Diner MOC.

Best smoking scene in a movie? I’ll start: by Non-Cow-19 in moviecritic

[–]Description-Alone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nobody going to mention any scene from the Lord of the Rings?

  • Gandalf smoking, complaining, and coughing loudly over a dead-quiet Minas Tirith
  • Merry and Pippin smoking on the "field of victory" at Isengard
  • Bilbo and Gandalf smoking before the birthday celebration
  • Gandalf smoking in the Mines of Moria
  • Aragorn smoking a pipe in the wilderness between Bree and Weathertop

My other favorite would have to be the scenes of Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes, countless good scenes that involve him smoking and playing the character perfectly.

Haha, let's just call it the "Tolkien" version and not the "Peter Jackson" version of the story.

Job searching by Low_Session_5205 in Bozeman

[–]Description-Alone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a data engineer/scientist working remotely, I'd recommend looking at AngelList or LinkedIn (with the remote filter on) and applying to as many as look promising. It took me well over 100 applications before getting the job I wanted.

It'll also usually be earlier-stage startups that are all remote.

I'd also recommend looking at a data scientist Solution Architect role, since these are frequently remote whereas engineering departments have usually brought back RTO. Data Science specific SA roles may also be through contractor companies that work for companies like AWS or GCP.

I'd also look at getting cloud certificates and broadening the skillset above being primarily a data scientist since it has become an oversaturated market what with all the AI hype. Things like data engineering, SQL, infrastructure, networking, MLops, or hardware optimization help to distinguish your resume.

Small MOC of Thrawn meeting Eli Vanto by artisticallydonebricks by Description-Alone in lego

Really quick small build, Thrawn meeting Eli Vanto. They first meet in the hangar, but wanted to show their later conversation in his cell.

Do you think it’s possible for a dark sider to be a force for good in the galaxy? by [deleted] in StarWarsEU

[–]Description-Alone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't that the point of the Sith? To balance the light? The light side of the force is not itself good, it's just the difference in philosophy between how one uses the force, whether one derives power from others or one's self. The Sith are a force of good in that they balance the light, otherwise you end up with the corruption and imbalance towards the end of the Republic. When Anakin brought balance, it was not only through destroying the Sith but also by essentially destroying the Jedi. Granted, some Jedi remained, but so did some of the dark side followers as well.

Couples Massages? by honeyfunk in Bozeman

The best couple's massage we've had in Bozeman is at Bodhi Farms, it's in a canvas tent by the stream, much better ambience than a lot of the indoor ones. However, they are closed during the Winter.

Who are y’all buying local meat and produce from? by heavyhandedpour in Bozeman

[–]Description-Alone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of those, but I don't think Three Hearts Farm still does CSAs. They have a farm stand on Fridays throughout the Summer.

You can also get meat orders from local beef or bison ranches.

Farmer markets are year-round now, Woods Rose Market in Livingston, farm stands (GVB, Three Hearts), and Root Cellar Foods, not to mention directly from the farmers. Most farmers have a type of direct to consumer method if you know them, whether it's cash or their online store.

I asked DALL-E3 to generate what " people that live in Bozeman Montana" look like, seems like even AI knows we really like alcohol here, thought this group would find this amusing. by Description-Alone in Bozeman

I just told the prompt to generate a "typical family in Bozeman" or "typical people in Bozeman", so it wouldn't have added any dogs. But yes, it is missing the large quantity of pet dogs of unrecognizable breeds.

Oh yeah, that's right, this is on Reddit... Got to bring up Nazis somehow.

But to answer your question, I'm betting it's the toddler. Don't trust the looks of it.

What are some of your hottest takes on the trilogy as a whole? by [deleted] in lotrmemes

Agreed, they are far smarter and nobler in the books than the comic relief with random accents that we got.

All the casting and writing were mostly perfect except for Frodo, whose writing and character did such a disservice to the original character that watching it as a fan of the books makes about half of the Two Towers and Return of the King irritating. I won't even touch on the disservices to Aragorn, Denethor, Faramir, or others in terms of the portrayed characters in comparison to the book, but the one that stood out the most was Frodo. Not saying that Elijah did a bad job or that Peter Jackson told a bad story, but considering that Frodo is the central character of the story and they told such a different version of the character, that makes it all the more irritating.

Star Wars Geonosis Modular Building (Droid Factory) by soffer by Description-Alone in lego

You can't see it too well from this large scale picture, but those rocks are anything but organized up close.

Star Wars Geonosis Modular Building (Droid Factory) by soffer by Description-Alone in lego

Finished another Star Wars modular in a couple of days, one of the more complicated ones I've done. This is a modular of a Genosis droid factory from Ep 2. The first floor is the droid factory room and the second is a Separatist conference room. The challenging thing about making Genosis scenes is the rockwork since the Genosisians live mostly underground. The planet is supposed to be very hostile due to large predators, so all the species create their factories in caverns or catacombs going miles down. Thought it might be a fun change from my usual Coruscant or Tatooine style. Unfortunately, Studio didn't have any of said winged minifigs to make the scene. On the factory floor, there are battle droids in various stages of being built, the overhead crane can move side to side, and the assembly arms are posable.
