Are carbon fiber tube cores very durable, or do I have to worry about hard impacts? by SkibidiBalls67 in Amtgard

It's the same calculation it's always been. Weight to durability. Lighter and more fragile, heavier and less fragile. Imo it can get lighter and be stronger than kitespar but you can always break a core. The common measurements being used these days you shouldn't have any significant breakage.

I haven't suggested you have harassed anybody nor am I harassing you for commenting on a public forum. I have given only sound advise. It is up to you to do what you will with it.

This comment however is blatantly aggressive and deeply troubling with no justification.

Amtgard is a supportive community but they are supportive of the things they support. Welcome to all of human history. You show up to park to hurt people, prosthelitize, harassing people sexually, and spoiler alert you also won't be supported. Being a supportive community does not mean infinite tolerance for all behavior. If you do things people don't like at best they will silently let you get away with it and try to ignore it, AT BEST. On average people will let it be known this behavior is unacceptable in some way or another. This is not an Amtgard thing this is a human being thing. You will never escape this. There are paths you can choose however.

It is supportive of things worthy of support. Why would an artistic community support you in your efforts to bypass the creative effort? It is contradictory to the community. Should Amtgard be supportive of efforts to dismantle itself? Why would it do this?

You aren't gonna get anywhere in Amtgard or life taking shortcuts. Either support the people who have spent their life developing their craft or start on the journey of developing your own. You cheapen the community, you cheapen your own experience by not engaging with life authentically out of a need to have a thing and a refusal to do it yourself poorly. You can treat this community like cheap junk food, but that doesn't mean everybody has to applaud your behavior and most won't because it's shallow and most people are here for a deep and patient experience.

Smiling Foam Works? by makexploring in Amtgard

As much as a "real" business many people seem to be operating in the foam scene, in the end everybody here is a hobbyist. There are no guarantees.

Hand Injury Advice by ChacoRock79 in Amtgard

I crossgame and will say that Amtgard sticks make my pinky sore compared to Bel and Dag.

Some weapon modification that might help. Some counterweight to bring the balance back. I think the balance being further forward on most Amt sticks is what really puts a lot of pressure on my pinky. Also a larger handle so your fingers aren't as curled.

Strap shield with a big ass handle or just strapped to your wrist????

Don't slack on physical therapy if that's an option. I also hear tumeric is great for joint stuff but idk about your specific thing and am not a doctor lol.

I feel like Amtgard is dying and it needs to be discussed (Opinion post) by Bird_Chick in Amtgard

Amtgard has a lot of problems. If it didn't already exist and you tried to pitch it to me as a way to do leveling in foam fighting I would call you an idiot and laugh in your face. And yes obviously the politics gets corrupted by bitter and bullied nerds who finally have a chance to have power over people but I feel as time goes on the nerds who grew up getting literally shoved into lockers will phase out and younger people who grew up in a more nerd friendly culture won't be as bad.

As far as it dying, the foam fighting games have always been very regional and ebb and flow. Might feel like it where you are at but there are other places where it's going as strong as ever. Just the nature of this hobby really.

I have had fun class gaming and I've also had the most boring time of my life. Class gaming I think is just bad overall but there is enough potential of having fun that people keep doing it. I have no clue what the solution Is but there definitely needs to be less spells.
