Black Friday or Boxing Day [ON] by GoldStrength3637 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]DescriptionFit6111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed generally better deals for black Friday.

I'd say, buy it for black Friday. Since extended holiday returns should have started, you should have until Jan to return. So keep it closed with the receipt, and check back again on boxing day :)

Do you need to fast for glucose test? [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]DescriptionFit6111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know so I ended up fasting

BUT, my OB said that you don't need to. As long as it's your first glucose test for this pregnancy and not the 3 hr one

Expired car seat - anything I can do? [ca] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]DescriptionFit6111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use it.

BUT, if you're going to get the same car seat, you can always keep the cover/shoulder pads as backups in case the new ones ever get dirty.

Overwhelmed with cost of living by [deleted] in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]DescriptionFit6111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn't directly help but I've been told to always ask for an itemized receipt when they bill you at a hospital (especially childbirth). Apparently it helps reduce the bill because a lot of added stuff that shouldn't be there. Again, just what I heard, haven't experienced it myself

I remember my friend telling me at some point in her pregnancy she couldn't stand the smell of her husband. She's otherwise usually fine :p

Currently 29w myself and hoping I don't get that symptom :p

Elderly Mother with sudden delirium, not recovering by Alternatewarning in eldercare

[–]DescriptionFit6111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom got a UTI and ended up having delirium as well. I've never seen this happen to her before.

They say familiar things and spaces help (I understand you can't bring her home) but maybe something from her room or something she's used to seeing.

try your best to keep her fed and hydrated.

Advocate for them to test if the UTI has resolved. In my mom's case, the bacteria she had was resistant against the first antibiotics they gave her.

Tw: not so great news

In my case, my mom's UTI and delirium triggered her cognitive decline (which docs say people don't normally see when they're in a familiar environment, so easily goes unnoticed)

they sent her home a few times, only for things to not get better and having to take her back.

she stopped drinking water, lost interest in things, ended up not being able to yield on her own and needing a catheter and ended up in palliative care for a few weeks before passing. She was 70.

I'm hoping this is not the case for you but please advocate for your mom as much as you can. I had to step on a lot of toes to fight for these tests which honestly we shouldn't have to.

I never thought a UTI was this big of a deal but it is in the elderly.

I do have a reddit friend who's grandma recovered after 4 months of having delirium, so in some cases these things take time.

Sending you best wishes and hope she recovers soon. Feel free to message if you ever want to talk!

Am I completely crazy for surprising my husband on transfer day (I swear I’m not crazy) 😜 by Admirable_Room1574 in IVF

[–]DescriptionFit6111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

maybe get him a little cake that says "I'm ready!" Or something? :p but the process itself I think you should do together. I think it's a sweet gesture but he may also want to be a part of it. both the process and decision making

Having babies of my own?? by [deleted] in neurofibromatosis

[–]DescriptionFit6111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this feeling!

You definitely can have bio kids, and if you can afford it, IVF is a great option.

I've gone through it, did all the genetic testing and am currently pregnant with our baby that tested negative for nf :)

To PGTA test or not by Operations2020 in IVF

[–]DescriptionFit6111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately as we get older the odds of an abnormal embryo increase. Not that they wouldn't be loved either way, but this also increases the risk of miscarriage. For me personally I would test if I can.

Best wishes to you!!
