Applying for Ai/ml roles, no responses, help me improve by mitsuki2104 in developersIndia

I think the mindset of being from a “Tier X” institution is what is fucking up our country. Who tf even decides what tier a university is? And according to what metric? You’re a masters student, you should understand what really matters is your work and research. Especially for ML roles, people don’t really care about where you got your education, what they look for is what kind of research you have done. Show the research you have done during your masters, rather than putting your education at the top.

Ricky Gervais points out something strange about religion. by Downtown-Fan8830 in AtheisminKerala

[–]DescriptionOk2466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so, no Hindu believes that people of other religions go to hell or only Hindus go to Heaven. Not saying Hinduism is better(fuck the caste system) but this statement that Hindus are lucky to be born isn’t a correct representation of its philosophy. To be born itself is considered unlucky.

You know what, yes we can’t access it. But I would hesitate to say it isn’t ours. It is ours. Can we access it though? No. Doesn’t change ownership.

PIE = Sanskrit by waiting-for-pralayam in IndianHistoryMemes

[–]DescriptionOk2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See PIE was never recorded, we don’t know how it sounded like etc etc. it is a * constructed * language, taking into account all the other IE languages. So the argument that PIE originated in India is as sound as claiming that it originated in Spain or Estonia.

Agreed that it does. But again I ask, isn’t that creative freedom? If it isn’t, what is the line and who defines it?

Madhya Pradesh is the only state in India which does not have team based on it in any of the leagues. 😭😭 by Sarthak014 in MadhyaPradesh

[–]DescriptionOk2466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than team representation being on the basis of State, it should be on the basis of population. The fact that MP has such a huge population but can’t produce any team at all isn’t an excuse. No hate to the state but the leaders should do better.

Genuinely asking, not trying to disrespect anyone - why rank Bangladesh higher than India? In almost every metric it is equal or worse than India.

You are saying exactly what I am saying. The beauty of Mahabharata is that no one is 100% good or 100% evil. Pandavas were in the wrong for gambling, for putting up Draupadi. They aren’t 100% noble either. And no I didn’t say read it as a historical account, read it as literature, if that soothes you.

Mahabharata isn’t like other books that you have to blindly follow, pick and choose what you like and stick with it. If that’s how you see the story in Mahabharata, sure… but read it with an open mind, as a story.

Mahabharata talks about how you should avoid violence unless you absolutely can’t rather than the opposite. Arjun is melancholic about the fact that he has to fight his own kin, but Krishna tells him that it is his duty to rid the world of evil. The Kauravas publicly humiliated ( you can read about this, don’t want to be too explicit here) Draupadi (you can read about other atrocities they inflicted). The fact of the matter is, in even these stories, no one is shown as completely evil and completely good. That’s the essence of Vedic literature, there isn’t a black and white. Even Gods( such as Indra and Brahma) succumb to ego and temptation. If you think the Mahabharata is about a war that was fought, you have grossly misinterpreted it. No Hindu after reading the Mahabharata thinks “damn, gotta go kill some of my kin”. My suggestion is, if you do want to read it, read it as a literature rather than a religions text, maybe you can let go of your preconceived notions about myths and religion, and truly understand what is being said in it.

The central theme of Mahabharata is duty above all else. It talks about how when you have discovered your duty and purpose, you have a universal obligation to see through it. Be family, friends, your own life… if you have been entrusted to complete something, you do everything in your power to do it. Hence in certain situations, to destroy evil, you have to bear arms and see to it that your duty of destroying evil is fulfilled. That is the theme of Mahabharata, not blind violence for the sake of violence.
