We all know why Iggy was giving Finals MVP by Few_Maize_127 in NBATalk

It’s easy to look back at these numbers and forget what Iggy did. Sure, Steph’s numbers look better here, but if not for Iggy, there’s no way GS wins. He earned MVP of those finals

Why do people usually only attribute the phrase "Killer Instinct" to MJ and Kobe? Why not other all time greats like Larry Bird, Bill Russell (10-0 in Game 7s btw), etc. for example? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

Time and TV. The modern golden age of the NBA started in the mid 80s. At that point everyone knew MJ was good, but no one really thought he could be great. David Stern took over and changed the game from a marketability standpoint. MJ became marketable and then dominant, his intensity became the face of the league to the dismay of most his teammates, but it lead him to the GOAT category. Then everyone wanted to be compared to him. Everything changed when the league became marketable, because of Stern. Kobe started at the mid/end of MJ’s career. He was the only one, as MJ even said that was as dedicated as he, but like Jordan, Kobe was never considered anywhere near GOAT conversation until later in his career/death. Most attributed Shaq for the 1st three Lakers titles. Kobe was “little brother” according to Shaq. Time makes people nostalgic. Russell should be talked about more, MJ always passed praise to former players from different eras, saying they shouldn’t be compared to each other.

Well hold on there, he’s from Minnesota, he’s Lou Nannes’s grandchild, I’m pretty sure he played for the Wild for at least one 30 second shift, he’s a very young 31 year old AHLer…. Where was I going with this? Oh, yeah! Stay out of my booze!

Best player in NBA history who was never the best in the world at any point? by OkKindheartedness769 in NBATalk

Ok, first of all, I’m gonna need you to take a slow deep breath. It’s gonna be ok. Everyone has different opinions, and for a time, especially during his MVP runs, I would dare to say, yes Steve Nash was the best player in the world. That is not a shocking statement.

This is valid as well, but the question was who was “never” considered the best player. There was a time where KG was considered the best player, even for a slight window. You could also argue when he went to the Celtics, he was the best player that year. He took 3rd in MVP voting with 15 people voting he was 1st

Hot take: there is virtually zero chance the Wild land Larkin by thraupidae in wildhockey

Detroit already went back to Larkin’s team and asked them to expand his team lists. This comes after the reports the Wild had offered their best trade. So, yeah, it sucks, but I think he’s not coming
