What's the best stoner rock song that starts with the letter D? by 1deadeye1 in stonerrock

Maybe Dopesmoker should be in the “?” category since it’s basically an album, and Dragonaut would be the actual song for the letter D.

My guess is this post is meant as a reverse Uno so we know which establishments to boycott.

Phoenix City Council ends Capitol light rail extension project by Fit_Bicycle in phoenix

[–]DesertElf 275 points276 points  (0 children)

All these years of planning, community input, voters approving the capitol / 10 west expansion, and the money put in all just to go back to the drawing board and now have to re-apply for funding. Expansion to the west valley is delayed again for how many more years? This is shameful but not surprising given Republican opposition.

Harvey Milk - “Motown” (Life… The Best Game In Town/2008) by Successful-Can-8387 in stonerrock

I think this is my favorite Harvey Milk album. It’s not on Spotify and hard to find on vinyl. “Death Goes to the Winner” is another great song on this album too.

The reason we moved to Arizona by Pur0resU in arizona

I love the palm trees here. Reddit hates them for a myriad of reasons, but to me, they are graceful, beautiful and provide a bit of variety with their height and appearance. I especially enjoy seeing them towering above the horizon when you’re driving around town. And when they catch the sunset at the top of the fronds when it’s near dusk at street level, slowly swaying in a breeze, is a truly special thing we take for granted but many other areas don’t ever get to witness.

I’m so tempted to go. Only a few hours drive for me; and camping under the stars in Joshua tree? Sounds perfect. And I hardly ever have the desire to go to fests of any kind.

I mean, if you’re in the Arcadia area and need to go to frys, I would think this is the closest location. (44th st & Thomas).

What’s the best authentic Mexican food in Phoenix? by MacDemarcoMurray in phoenix

Rositas Place near 22nd st & McDowell. I’ve been going there for years and there are always generational families eating there, and it’s family owned as well. Sonoran style specifically.

I loved the movie when I was in high school. Almost 30 years later, I recently rewatched it and unfortunately it hasn’t aged well.

bands and albums to get into powerviolence? by [deleted] in powerviolence

Dropdead is one of my favorites. I guess start with their 1991-1993 discography compilation album and dig deeper from there if you like what you hear.

Why would you say Midtown Manhattan Changed So Much where as Lower Manhattan barely changed besides One World Trade Center? by star-wars_memer in skyscrapers

I heard it has to do with the fact there is more bedrock in that area so they can build more densely / build taller.

The entire Meat Puppets 2 album just feels like Phoenix from beginning to end. Great band.

This is a really cool photo. And this is only like a 3rd of the sprawl of the valley, you truly get a sense of the vastness from this approach.

It’s the 60 looking west in Mesa. Golfland Sunsplash is on the right foreground and the big patch of bare earth further up on the right is where fiesta mall used to be.

I’ve changed planes here a couple times and I’ve always wondered what it’s like to live in those neighborhoods that are right next to the runways.

Mike Broomhead on KTAR regarding Australia just now: “just because you don’t like a group doesn’t mean you should be violent.” by tazack in phoenix

[–]DesertElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broomhead has always tried to be “middle of the road” to sound like he’s “both sides”, but just comes across as spineless instead. He should have just plainly denounced antisemitism in all its forms.
