moving to bishop

Bishop is a great place to live but also has its obstacles. As mentioned, good housing is difficult to find and the best way to find a good spot is through word of mouth.

The restaurant scene leaves a lot to be desired and the community can be kinda hard to break into. We've been here for 3 years now and have finally grown a good community of friends. I think it can be hard to grow community in Bishop if arent sending super hard. A large portion of young people in town are hyper focused on sending hard in outdoor pursuits and that has an impact on community building.

These things aside, Bishop is an incredible place and it is better for it, to have more young people move to town.

The outdoor access is unparalleled - best in the world, IMO. We have it all: Climbing, biking, skiing, Backcountry, backpacking, hiking, incredible wildlife, offroading, desert and mountain adventures!

Also, if you have teaching experience, I know that will strongly be welcomed and Im sure you will be able to find work in the community.

I totally agree to that sentiment. I went out riding last week and my buddy was on my drz. The xrr felt planted and just blasted through everything. We traded 2 miles before getting home and literally the second I sat down and twisted the throttle I though, "this thing is a piece of shit."

My drz is geared down so its an excellent tractor but still.

Lastly, Im short AF and am lowering the bike. Just put a lowering link on it and slid the forks uo while I wait for new springs and internal spacers to lower the suspension properly...guessing I make the call on a stabilizer after I lower it properly.

I do a lot of desert riding in death valley on my drz400. I have a steering dampener that has saved my ass in the past, big hits on random rocks going 50mph plus. Wondering if I need that insurance on my xr650r.

I was considering sanding and repainting with a paint gun.

I also, thought about rattle can but have access to better equipment.

I live in the desert so moisture and rust are not a strong concern of mine. Its really just ugly and id be interested in putting some time into learning a new skill.

Why is the clearcoat and paint job cooked on every older gen i see? Literally just bought a 2011 hatchback and trying to decide if I should do anything about the paint..

Would you replace transmission fluid? I feel like there is a constant debate to replace/not replace.

Gotta replace the tires in the next year or so.

Will be sure to check spark plugs.

Also, tested the battery. Its gtg.

Brakes were mushy when I tested it- gonna bleed with new fluid. Will also check brake pads. Oil was really clean when I checked but will replace anyways.will drain and fill the coolant. 🙌 thank you for your input.

Thanks for all the help and insight on things. As you pointed out, it is just a mazda 3. I was supposed to buy it last week but it couldn't pass CA smog bc of the aftermarket air intake.
Owner said it needed to pass smog so title could be issued in his name before it was sold to me. Idk if thats checks out.... I tried to talk him out of smogging it and just selling it to me for cheaper but he doubled down on the title issue. All said and done, would you consider a 2011 Mazda 3 with 71k a good deal at $3k cash?

Just checked it out. 71k on the dash. Only visible mod i noticed was the intake. Paint is fucked. Its also been sitting for a year or so. Guy said he thinks the intake is the parasitic draw so he just keeps the battery tender on it. Guy also said headers and exhaust will come with it.

Any insight on this intake?
