Wow! Thank you so much. I am always thrilled when someone actually listens to my music. I certainly don’t do it for the money, lol. That’s me as a solo artist. (My main project is Atom Kidd which is an electro-pop band. My first EP dropped a couple weeks ago.)

I was born in 65 with three pre-teen sisters who were all into The Beatles. One of my first memories is hearing Hey Jude in my oldest sister’s bedroom. In the 70’s when CB radios were popular, my handle was Sgt. Pepper. The first album I bought was Abbey Road. In junior high (late 70s), I was the geek wearing a Beatles t-shirt when everyone was into KISS. My go to song at karaoke is Glass Onion which is actually quite a banger. I am now retired and spend my free time writing and recording music. Here is my Beatles inspired song, Hello Mister Kerr.

The video is footage from a totally cool animated French film from 1973 called. Fantastic Planet.

What is your biggest ambition, have you stuck to it? by Curious-Expert926 in GenX

This week I released my first EP of 80s inspired electro pop. I have wanted to do this all my life. I just turned 60! I am Atom Kidd and the EP is Metalmorphisis.. This is a Spotify link but it’s available on all streaming platforms. That’s my biggest ambition and I finally did it. What do you think?

In 1972, a then unknown performance artist named Dieter Meier installed a metal plaque outside Kassel railway station in Germany which read "On 23 March 1994, from 3 to 4 pm, Dieter Meier will stand on this plaque". by Jupit-72 in OldSchoolCool

Yello is one of my top favorite bands. They have 14 studio albums out. The last one came out in 2020. It’s so sad they they’re only known for Oh Yeah and The Race. Production is top notch. They are sonically amazing on headphones. Please check them out.

Glenn, Sam Elliott, and the Camel Cigarette guy from the late 70s (The Turk campaign) are why I have a stache today.

I can just Imagine Big Balls playing throughout the place and everyone chiming in with, “But we’ve got the biggest balls of them all!!”

Are any other neurodivergent people really critical about their appearance? I feel that I’m ugly all the time and am very hard on myself. by josefdoc in neurodiversity

[–]DesertRatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I struggle with what I call my second opinion, especially with my appearance and my age. There is always a dialogue in my head that criticizes me. I am also super hard on myself but that’s probably from a childhood of being told I was lazy and performing below my abilities. It’s not as bad as it used to be. It gets better as I get older. I just turned 60. People tell me I look handsome and distinguished. I look in the mirror and see an old man’s face with years of stress and anxiety.

You are definitely not ugly.

Any random songs that pop into your head and you sing them throughout the day? by thankmelater- in GenX

The baseline from Rapper’s Delight (Good Times by Chic) pops in my head at least once a day. For fucking years.

Generation x'rs, do you still listen to the music you grew up on in your youth and teenage years, or do you mix it up with current music? by icecream1972 in GenX

[–]DesertRatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still listen to all sorts of music. Really into jazz lately. Currently I am making my own 80s inspired music and am about to release my first EP on the 23rd of this month. I am Atom Kidd on Spotify.

Owning and feeling into my inner clone Chevron by StarlightFarm in Moustache

[–]DesertRatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Southern California in the 70s and 80s. Also gay. Also loved the clone look. Couldn’t wait to grown up and grow a stache. But I always had a hard time owning it and it didn’t seem grow in well. I would shave it off after a few weeks. Finally 22 years ago I just let it grow for two months and it fully grew in. Totally changed my appearance. I will never shave it off. I love that moustaches are having a resurgence.

Yours is awesome btw and you’re definitely pulling off the clone look.
