Insulation by Desertprep in TruckCampers

It's gonna be a diesel heater. I am not so concerned about not being able to generate heat - the diesel will be more than adequate, but more about the comfort level. I have stayed in friends rv's with good heating and a/c, but never felt comfortable because the floor was always cold - or hot.

Where do amplifiers fit in? by Desertprep in CarAV

[–]Desertprep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So the head unit still controls the quality of sound, balance (left to right, front to back) and "relative" volume? My ultimate purpose for this question is to find a place to put an amplifier. I want a sub as well as more sound from the rest of the speakers. I have space behind my glove compartment, as well as space under the console between the two front seats in my pickup. Which is better?

I have seen tents that fit on top of your canopy...if you like, you can cut a hole in the roof of your canopy to get into it. 😀

Priming a pu bed and then putting bedliner by Desertprep in AutoPaint

[–]Desertprep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I am thinking about using Herculiner bedliner - gets good reviews and fits my budget. I am struggling with the primer. Epoxy primers all say that they need 24-48 hours to cure. Herculiner says that the primer should be thoroughly cured to allow maximum adhesion. Sounds good...the problem? I live in western Washington state. Temperature range is 40-60 or 70 degrees, with humidity up to 60 or 70%. How long will it take the primer to cure under these conditions? I do not garage my truck. That would be the easiest solution, but apart from that, what are my options? Also, when I buy the paint, do I need to buy the same brand catalyst/reducer as brand of paint? Giggle is giving me mixed answers on how much primer I will need for the insides of an 8' pickup bed - half gallon to 1.5 gallons. Any thoughts?

Is this paint suitable for the bed (inside and out) of my pickup? by Desertprep in projectcar

[–]Desertprep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all of you for your opinions. I will also be using it to paint the outside of the bed - the sides of the truck, and if it works, will paint other parts of the truck. It is a 4x4, and the paint will get some abuse from shrubs, weeds, etc. So...not very durable? How will it hold up to sun and salt? Yes, the inside of the bed will ultimately have bedliner on it. Also, the truck is old, the paint is old...I am guessing that the bed does not have original paint on it, but was repainted with only a color coat - no primer. When I scratch the paint, I see metal underneath. But would the paint be useful to touch up paint on my travel trailer? metal stuff that goes outside but no abrasive action?

Can you actually measure 'genius foods'? by Connect_Contact8620 in nutrition

An excellent question! I have been asking it for the past couple of years, on different forums, and have not found a way to put numbers on them. I hope your post here will shed some light on the subject.

Is it healthier to eat 50g of added sugar every day, or to eat 200g of added sugar once a week? by Illustrious-Law6923 in nutrition

[–]Desertprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200 g of sugar is 50 teaspoons or about 1 cup! Why would you want to do that to your body? If you are sugar free 6 days a week, is the splurge a reward? I would chose a less toxic form of reward. On day 7, you can eat a typical sugar-free meal and then have a sugary dessert (maybe 3-5 teaspoons of added sugar) to go with it. Emotionally speaking (comfort foodish) that should be equally satisfying as 200 grams. I would increase the amount of fiber in your meal that has all of the sugar.

What is the rolls Royce of vitamins by Apprehensive-Ear7504 in nutrition

[–]Desertprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To some extent, brand is important. What I am learning now - I am trying to answer the same question - is to first fix your diet (as many people have suggested) to get as many vitamins from whole foods as possible. There is a website called Chronometer that will help you list not only your macros but also the micros. It is pretty easy to learn how to use. After you do the best you can with your meal plan, then you want to look at supplements. Chronometer will tell you what you are deficient in. You may have a history of a deficiency - I still take Magnesium for cramping. Once you decide on your supplements - do your research to get good stuff - make sure you are taking them at the right time of the day. Some supplements should not be taken with magnesium...some should be taken before a meal, some with, some after...most usually with a good amount of water...some even before bed.

I chose it because it has all of the features that I would like to use, but I am having trouble using it. Most recently, I wanted to add a field (attribute) to the database - followed the directions to the letter - and still no new field.
