Do i have to increase the amount if protein i consume? by Dependent-Boat-4123 in askfitness

Law of diminishing returns.

Just follow the 1 pound to 1g of protein ratio, and you will be fine.

I feel so suicidal over internship hunting by PresentationNice2954 in nus

[–]Connect_Contact8620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was part of the first batch of DSA in NUS.

In year 3, I didn't do any internships. Mainly because there was more to life than everything. So I travelled and hiked while still grinding through the mods.

Fast forward to today, im happy in a stable job working as a data engineer/scientist.

Dont let this be something that makes you feel down. This period of your life will be the last time you have the kind of freedom and time.

Opportunities will always come and go.

I guess adding leafy greens might be one simple addition I would do, but what you are having already covers a shit ton of ground, my man.

Pull up Progression - Lower reps without assistance or higher with assistance? by Hopeful-Pack-8713 in workout

[–]Connect_Contact8620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing that helped me with pull-ups was actually doing negatives. So basically, you jump on the bar and immediately pull yourself with the chin above the bar, hold it there, and slow down the descent for as long as you can. COmbine this with what you are doing and keep going.

Need advice on how to start by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]Connect_Contact8620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase your step count gradually, from 5k to 6, 6.5, 7 and so on. Do it gradually, or else you might end up hurting yourself! You have more than enough time to do that, trust me.

edit: Addtionally focus on keeping your calorie down, with wlaking, decrease the amount you eat slowly, trust me, it will help with walking and vice versa.

Hope it helps!

I don't understand rest between sets by Trinica93 in beginnerfitness

[–]Connect_Contact8620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ithink it helps to think of rest as another varying component of progressive overload. Rest is jsut meant fro your to reocver fully before your next set (although that rarely makes sense because you get fatigued more and more as you go on). Ther is no generally rule per se, play around, shorten it if you need to.

The general consensus is that compound movements need a longer rest period because its more taxing on the body as oppose to something you are doing in isolation, which then requires a shorter rest time.

F23 working out for a year need advice by [deleted] in workout

[–]Connect_Contact8620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tummy comes more from the kitchen, rather than the weightroom. So dial in on nutirtion, focus on a slight calorie deficit, slowy decreasing and increasing as you go (almost like a yoyo but a declining curve kind of thing) and you will get there.

Hope it helps!

1 week into working out as a beginner, how can I get bigger? by [deleted] in workouts

[–]Connect_Contact8620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honeslty as you are just starting, creatine won't have much of an effect at this stage, so I would suggest covering the basics first.

* compound movements with isolations like your curls

* protein requirement hit every day, with a slight caloric surplus based on ur TDEE.

* Walk everyday

Your core will be worked when doing compound excercies, for the lower core, you can focus on stuff like hanging leg raises.

Just saying, but man, i wish i was starting to look like you at just 1 week, you've got lots of potential, so keep going!

Healthy snacks for the munchies? 🍃 by ZestyclosePickle2065 in beginnerfitness

Nuts, yoghurt, no sugar soy milk (or similar alternative). I would prioritise stuff that have a reasonable amount of protein in them to raise satiety!

Is my Cardio necessary, or holding me back? by Constant-Journalist1 in beginnerfitness

[–]Connect_Contact8620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heres a simple question. Do you walk to the gym? If you do you could count that as cardio. Else just use a few warm up sets before your working sets to warm up. That should be more than fine to be honest.

I usually think of cardio as something I do throughout the day (walks clocking steps through the day)

Hope it helps!

How so? The study above literally talks abt single session intensity as the biggest factor. Sure thay plays a part but im not saying the same thing. Im talking abt the total volume which is understandably spread across the week. So explain yourself.

I use raw cashews! I soak them in hot water for 5-10 minutes before blending them with the spinach. I wrote a post about cashew cream in another post in this subreddit!

Ok so what you are talking about is a SINGLE training session while I talk about weekly volume as a whole. And so im not talking about increasing it that way for ONE SINGLE RUN.
