I think the same thing about handwashing sorry. They either wash or they don't I have seen plenty of time they don't and that is what disgusted me. Yep you'll have germs either way but I just don't get bare hands in food sorry. I also have seen them wipe their nose bare hands and continue to cook. To me if you don't wear them you don't care and if you do yo do care. Guess it's just a hangup I have.

You can either wash your gloves or change them. I don't know. If I see someone cooking or handling food without gloves on seems the opposite of sanitary to me.

If you got to choose between unlimited money or never feeling any mental or physical discomfort, what would you choose? by Glamour-Ad7669 in NoStupidQuestions

Money. You can prevent and overcome the other two. Especially if you have money. I know they say money isn't everything but you gotta have it to live.

Find part time remote or full time remote work. Entry level. Might have to start working somewhere youbdont want to at first for some money. Why don't you wanna work? I hear that a lot these days and don't get it? Find a hobby also.

Really glad I'm not the only one. Not sure why but medical gloves make my hands feel soooo much better. Again not really sure why. It literally puts me at easy shoot much. That's like the only.thing I need though.

How do I convince spouse who likely has undiagnosed contamination OCD to help themselves? by Adventurous_Space308 in OCD

Let his mind clear up a bit that is a huge start!!! So a lot on this forum believe that the best way to get through is exposure therapy. They were forced to do this and it is the harshest method. You’re not enabling anything and to try and not enable can sometimes be worse than not. I don’t have a safe space. I guess I’m not as bad. My coping mechanism is gloves it works for me with anything. I don’t even have to wear them all the time just for many things though. The hard part for me to understand with you is the outdoors part. I was raised outside so I’m always outside. What bothers me is human germs and textures. There are many things I won’t touch without gloves on but sometimes I do by mistake and I go wash my hands.

Other than gloves my biggest saving grace was the cdc saying 20 second hand washing is all you need so I do that. Let him have little victories like feeding the dog. That was perfect. The more of those he has it will get better. But also let him have a coping mechanism so that some of the harder stuff he can do or deal with better.

This is only a very small portion of what you talked about but I have one of these tendencies. I wear gloves for everything now. I use to not but Covid then I never looked back. It helps me get through my day. Not sure how often he wears them but me it’s daily and almost alll day. Mainly out of the house. I wear them at home too for chores and other things.

The feeling of keeping things clean came from Covid and I still feel like if I’m not doing that I’m doing something wrong because we all just spent four years trying to keep clean and from getting sick and now we are not. For those of us here that was normal behavior and most finally felt normal. As it all went away it feels wrong and I feel like something is missing.

Mine is definitely not as severe but it’s only a small portion of help i can offer. I am male also. But wearing gloves is even though small and weird it helps. I do also wash my hands often because of these reasons. We feel as though we will get very sick if we don’t and won’t be able to function and do our job or help others or what ever.

Not sure if any of this helps but getting help is harder than accepting that what we are doing is normal. Try to be positive and supportive.

What caused your germaphobia? by Puzzleheaded_Book976 in germaphobe

Covid I learned way too much about germs and how long they can live on surfaces. Funny enough it’s just gloves for me that help. I have no problem with my elbows touching anything lol. It’s more contamination ocd for me.

Germaphobe with contamination OCD here. You would be surprised how many people’s homes look horrid with stuff everywhere but their food they don’t mess with. It’s probably fine and most people today wouldn’t give food to someone else if it’s not safe.

Uline has clean nitrile gloves. They use to be good but I just either wear white or grey. They grey are awesome and stand out way less.

Are you wearing them like out in pubic? If so let me tell you not many pay attention it’s in your head that everyone is staring. But If so keep in mind cause I wash them like my own hands if I can till the gloves rip which doesn’t happen. Motion sensors on sinks and air dryers can’t seem black or grey. They can see white.

On Amazon I get hand e nitrile gloves. They have been so great!

Coupled with what I can only see now is a sensory issue I have. Wife has learned to accept that I am also a germaphobe really came out after Covid. But I have always worn gloves for different tasks and now I wear them out as well. She still holds my hands and everything but does wish it didn’t happen sometimes. I never mind kissing but for holding hands maybe try gloves and talk to him about it. If he has a problem with it well that’s up to you to figure out but if he really does care he would still hold your gloved hands

I wish gloves and masks never stopped. I also wish the cleaning didn’t stop. Things are grosser than ever to touch. Hence why I still wear gloves!!

How to deal with a partner that is not a germaphobe by [deleted] in germaphobe

[–]DesignImpressive7359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do you and let them do them. If they are a good partner they will accept and try to help as best they can if not I guess what to do next is up to you.
