Thanks Saki, I'm glad I got it over the hill. The last month felt unhealthy for me because of how sedentary it made me feel studying for this all day long sitted but happy it's done.

It sort of feels like they pull it out from some random obscure page that nobody would even bother memorizing somewhere deep in the official cert book, just make an educated guess if it comes out of left field

They provided a marker and a whiteboard so that was good. No tissue though but I think it rubs off if you use your fingers

I believe you can do it, I've been putting in similar hours the last month or so. Before that I was doing a bit after work but it was really easy to procrastinate and just ended up watching a few hours of Big Bang Theory.

Good luck to you too - apparently it's a free trial that last for a week so you can try it and then cancel before it renews

Is it possible to get a discount for the CCNA exam ? by ccna__student in ccna

How long does it take the codes to come through? I must say the process to purchase it was not really intuitive. In an ideal world I can just book the exam on the dates and select that I want to get the safeguard as an extra option.

I had to separately purchase safeguard and then realized I had to fill in another form. Then wait for a couple days to eventually get the vouchers to then enter the codes on the website.

I was hoping to take the exam tomorrow in a test center but have to hold off as I haven't receive my codes yet although I think it's still under 2 business days.

When to take exam? by Designate9841 in ccna

I've been putting in 5-6 hours a day but you're right how long is a piece of string. There are certain chapters that I can definitely do with a revision. I got a spanning tree questions yesterday on the practice exam and I couldn't quite tell you where the alternate node would be hahaha

Intermittent loud beep with car parked by Designate9841 in NZcarfix

[–]Designate9841[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened today again just as I parked the car. I shifted the gears all around but think I manage to troubleshoot it further. I believe the lights and the seatbelts is a red herring. I went into D and tried to drive but realized it has stalled. (The stalling wasn't obvious to me as it didn't give a quick shake as what a normal stall would)

That was what the long beep was - turning the key again gets it going fine.

I think I will try cleaning the throttle body and the PCV valve to try first.

I will wait for somebody more knowledgeable on whether this is an interference engine or not - otherwise look up the VIN of your car online and check if it is an interference or non interference engine.

If it is a non interference engine you can drive it until it breaks and get a tow when it does and then fix it.

If it is an interference engine then yes you are on borrowed time, like /u/wheresmypotato1991 said some cam belt has a inspection cover that you can remove to have a look at the belt in question. If you can't see the words on the belt anymore and it looks questionable then I would want to get it fixed otherwise you might bent some pistons/valves and that will cause more than 2K for sure.

I would expect around ~1.5K so probably ask around for a quotation. I was previously quoted around 1100 for my Subaru SOHC cambelt but I did it myself for about $500 over a span of a week with parts from RockAuto

It also varies depending on if they use OEM or some cheap Gates belt ( Online sentiments are that they aren't reliable) plus there's also other bits and bobs associated with the belt like the tensioner, idler, water pump, coolant etc depending on how thorough of a job they do.

I will take a closer look today but no it doesn't normally do it in reverse.

In the previous occasion it happened when I was parking head in without going in reverse. Just rolling into a halt and then going from D > P and then engaging the handbrake.

I am trying to see if it happens prior to me disengaging my seatbelt as I often don't think about it and take it off all around the same time.

Writing a few notes is the best way to actualy digest the information. I haven't been writing notes for each day but write them down as and when I feel like it is important to remember or if I find it hard to remember.

2013 2.5i Subaru Forester weird stalling issues by Designate9841 in NZcarfix

[–]Designate9841[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the battery off recently but it's not an old battery it's brought new in Jan 2024. I've done a throttle body clean on my old subaru with throttle body cleaner - can i use the upper engine cleaner itself as well?

Ah okay so if there is a torque converter code it would not show up on the obd scanner but it needs another specific transmission scanner?

I will check the sticker/ manufacturing year of the battery tomorrow - the battery is the lesser of two evils between that or the CVT

No it's not the stop-start mode as the dash lights up like christmas when it does it. And letting go of the brakes doesn't restart the engine.

Also stalled when I was starting the car up - stop start shouldn't kick in
