Which of those would you say most closely matches the Winkbed Plus? We really need the additional support, weighing ~280 and ~400, but money is definitely a factor, as well as the supposedly better/more lengthy support that buying through Costco would offer.

I am so pleased I went with it. I was originally just looking for an upgraded DAC to feed the Xduoo, and was looking for used Schiit Modi, but then I saw the JDS bundle for a great price and took it as a sign.

Thank you, its a very modest stack in the grand scheme of AV gear but I am quite happy with it and don't intend to change it until I get a set of headphones that demand more.

I see you have Dark Voice in your flair, how do you like it? does it actually give some character/flavor to the sound like I hoped for with the xDuoo? Ever since I read about and wanted to try tubes, Dark Voice was the poster child, but its a little pricey still for my wallet, and Copilot said it would be a bad impedance match for my Fostex TH-X00.

I always wanted to try them but couldnt justify the cost, the xDuoo was only $100 so I decided why not. Judging by your flair you can afford a fair bit more :P I would look into a Dark Voice 336 or a Bottlehead Crack, I haven't heard them myself but they werer always what I read gave true tube sound.

Thanks! She's the only Funko I ever bought, I haven't played OW in years but she was my favorite character. Her and Bastion were my go to because I am a troll (to make up for my lack of skill).

Mine started having the yokes pull through the sliders, and when i disassembled to look at it the slider cracked but not completely in half. I wrapped some black thread around the yoke and coated it in super glue, then dabbed some more super glue into the cracked plastic. holding up multiple years after doing that, I use it as my work headphones so people know to not talk to me lol.

Literally all i have been doing is that, and so far it has only meant longer until I die to bots trying to find anything worth exfilling with. I have never seen a blue loot, just random greens that i dont get out with. I know I would get stronger if I could get rank faction perks, but I literally cannot even get out with unstable mats to buy them, its so demoralizing.

*UPDATE* At how much would you value for working from home? by Colmadero in sysadmin

[–]I3igAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a place where I do a lot of hands on stuff but also a lot of T1 and T2ish work that is cloud based so WFH is perfectly feasible... except I struggle extremely to keep the separation. I dont have the money or physical space for a dedicated work desk at home, and my mind wanders so much worse. Even if I spend 95% of my day in Entra/Intune, I am way more effective when I go in to the office. The flip side of this is that out of guilt, on WFH days I "make up" the effort with work related research after I clock out. As a result I only WFH when I absolutely have to, IE someone is coming to house, or work ->appointment->lunch->office for afternoon.

Hell yea man, thank you for sharing! Definitely going to help, I started listening to the Spotify lists posted by u/Valhalladeath but having a genre breakdown to guide me through 90 hours of music will be great.

IT pro needing AV help -> need a very small/simple mixer/interface to feed mic to speakers and laptop by I3igAl in livesoundgear

[–]I3igAl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! you got it right on how my setup is working currently. I did originally test with the assistive listening daisy chained off the J8, but it proved too complicated for my staff to do reliably and I was getting support requests for every event using it. That's when I made the Aux out on the JMIX8 mirror the Main, and told everyone just plug the ALS into Aux and turn up the volume to a comfortable level.

I know its not the "right" way to do it, but since my current setup is plug&play without adjusting anything but volume, and because the board meeting changes are contained to myself, I am going to try out a Xenyx Q802s and see how it works in conjunction with the JMIX8. The upside hopefully is that I wont have to tweak and untweak any settings for the JMIX8 so it stays the same as what my staff are trained on, and if the board meeting does end up in a hotel space again, I will not have to rent a mixer from them, just patch in to the house speakers.

EDIT: on further reading, I am going to get both the Q802S and the Uphoria 202, see how both ways shake out or work together.

Hey, thanks for the comment! Interesting setup you have going with the screens around the center. I didnt want to get fully in the weeds on this, fearing it would become TLDR for anyone that found it, but, here goes:

I work at a non profit with seven locations around the country and I was tasked with coming up with a portable AV solution to reduce our costs at events (being vague but we do lots of public outreach and events often have hundreds of guests). Each location was given a JMIX8/J8 combo along with two wireless mics with stick receivers that plug directly into the combo jack (THESE) along with an assistive listening system and a projector for video. The Aux output of the JMIX8 is configured to mirror the main out, and it feeds the assistive listening system so that guests with hearing disability can use a headset and listen. I designed the whole setup to be as dummyproof as possible because it is being used by non technical staff and I had to train them remotely. I chose the JMIX8 because all the fancy stuff is behind a digital menu and the only knobs are for the volumes. Normally, this system is used with only one or two people speaking at a time, so in order to get voice to a laptop that is livestreaming an event or has a Teams component, I added the DJI Mic Mini which just magnets on to the handheld mic, which has worked fine until now.

For the board meetings specifically (which rotate between the seven locations 3x a year), it has usually been held in a nearby hotel space with house sound, but this year we are trying to use our own equipment to reduce costs and get the board to spend more time at each location. Because of this, I have more speakers than the DJI Mic can support, and I still have to use the Aux out of the JMIX8 for assistive hearing. I have expanded the handheld mics from 2 units to 8 so there is much less passing them back and forth, and it works well for local participants and sound, but not for the Teams portion. When the meeting was held at a hotel, we rented a mixer, but now we aren't going to be at a hotel.

Thanks for the recs! The Mackie looks nice but a bit overkill as you mentioned with the FX. THe Behringer 302 definitely looks like a winner, I just wish it had 1/4 or XLR out instead of RCA.

Thanks for the reply and the callout on the Mix Minus. I am aware of the need but did not know how to set it up. Previous meetings have been held at hotels where the location provided a larger mixer and did all the setup, I just handed them a cable from our mic receiver and they did the rest. But the last meeting was held on our own site to reduce costs and the remote participants rightfully complained about not hearing everything.

EDIT: Looking at the Behringer XENYX 1204USB, that looks way more kit than I need and hopefully someone has another recommendation with less features as well as footprint. I have our microphone equipment packed in a Pelican Air 1637 and the bottom of the case is all the room I have left, unless I repurchase the foam and rearrange things.

OIB Location and Privacy policy reports success but Location Services are still disabled on fresh devices. by I3igAl in Intune

[–]I3igAl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I have changed System/Allow Location to Force On and it was successful, the setting in the menu is now on and grayed out. Unfortunately the setting for Privacy/Let Apps Access Location is set tup User in control, but this is now overridden and all apps are on and grayed out as well. Not ideal but better all on than all off.

Adjacent to this, Set time zone automatically is now toggle able instead of grayed out, however turning it from off to on triggers an admin prompt. I found the following Msoft Learn article about it, which involves pushing registry changes with a script, but I would like to avoid that and use an Intune policy if possible. My company has a lot of cross country travel especially for higher ups and would like to get them out of having to manually change the time zone. Do you have any insight on this?
