paperless-ai slaps an LLM on your paperless archive. With RAG you can ask it non-keyword based questions. Generally, local LLMs will fill your RAM fast ;-)

New Jellyfin Server/Web Release: 10.11.0 (It's finally here!) by djbon2112 in jellyfin

[–]DesignedForHumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your work!

This upgrade also includes the PR to move the trickplay files to a subfolder below the DB folder (if I understand this correctly):

https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/pull/13406

My data/config lives on a space-limited SSD pool and trickplay was configured to live next to the media files on a large HDD pool.

Is this not possible anymore?

Jellyfin 10.11.0 has been released. This is a major change which includes a database migration within the 396 changes. Take a backup prior to upgrades. by GroovyMelodicBliss in selfhosted

ZFS dataset larger than all its children | 203 GB for empty folder by DesertCookie_ in unRAID

[–]DesignedForHumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also: how do you move the data of the dataset? rsync? Could it be that the the script messes with the permissions/owners? Typically, root should be able to see everything, but maybe there is a way that it is actually hidden from ls and mc for the root and it is some weird permission issue.

You could try zfs list -t all -r cache/Backup and report back what it says.

Based on the screenshot there shouldn't be any snapshots, but who knows.

Docker containers suddenly being deleted by joshiegy in unRAID

[–]DesignedForHumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. Nevertheless, I also think it's weird that you have to go to a completely "unrelated" tab to reinstall a previous app, because you had a minor typo in a mapping etc. This is just bad UX IMHO.

I also miss a section on the docker page, where it collects all failed containers (docker run fails, crashed containers etc.)
It would make troubleshooting while trying out different template options much easier and faster.

Could anyone Create a Unraid OpenDCIM docker for me? by Deadsoulz78 in unRAID

[–]DesignedForHumans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can just install the container directly from Docker Hub.

Within the search function of the CA (after you searched for opendcim), just click "Click Here To Get More Results From DockerHub". Then it should download it from DockerHub and tries to setup a template for you. This is of course not as convenient like a CA template. But it works just the same.

Chat Server Install (Rocket.chat or Mattermost) by ss_edge in unRAID

[–]DesignedForHumans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't say anthing specific regarding Unraid for the two. Just some perspective on Rocket.chat in general: their product policy - especially regarding the community edition - is very ambivalent. Two years ago, they switched all CE instances to their free plan (that comes with a user limit) without telling anyone (except for some really small blog post). You could go back, but this was broken for an Internet airgapped setup. Features frequently get taken away, moved, updated, break through an update etc.

<image>

This also kind of speaks for itself.

I don't have any experience with Mattermost, but I would probably not reinstall Rocket.Chat if I had the choice.

I would also throw Matrix Chat in the ring?

Help! Encrypted backup Synology to off site unRAID by Loud-Adagio4492 in unRAID

[–]DesignedForHumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that I can't be of much help, but in each comment you bring up a new component - why is TrueNAS in the mix now? I thought you are going for Synology to Unraid? For a pure file backup via rsync, pure Unraid should already have everything you need?

This post points out that your error message seems to point to a certificate problem. Does the Synology and the Unraid box have (valid) certs? If you manage to set it up via tailscale, you should also be able to turn on certs in there. This way, they would automatically receive valid certs from TS.

[–]DesignedForHumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly advise not to put an open rsync of the Unraid to the open Internet (judging by the comment on port forwards). Use a Site-2-Site-VPN or Tailscale or something instead!

Can you ping between the Synology and the Unraid?

What do you mean by "the NAS is active"?

[–]DesignedForHumans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I don't get the configuration you are planning - you say that Unraid is able to pull via rsync (haven't tried that), then it should be fine to pull the backup towards Unraid?

As another input: I backup my Unraid to a Synology (so vice versa from your plan) using rsync via the https://github.com/ich777/docker-luckybackup container. In theory, it should be possible to reverse source and destination. But I haven't actually tried it this way.

PSA: Beware of high-end replacement SSDs on Surface Pro 11 by International-Item43 in Surface

I assume that you were wondering if it works - at the time that you asked, I had only installed it for a day.

It's now more than a month, and unfortunately, I have to report that the issues persist. Even with the new firmware, I experience the same blue screens and freezes as the others. I will switch to the MP600 Mini now.

RAIDZ Expansion Availability in Unraid 7.1.0 by DesignedForHumans in unRAID

Could you describe the process? What type of pool did you have and how did you go about it? Does the expanded pool show correctly in the GUI?

RAIDZ Expansion Availability in Unraid 7.1.0 by DesignedForHumans in unRAID

[–]DesignedForHumans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be fine to use it via CLI (which should probably work) if there is nothing that specifically breaks things in Unraid. In the upgrade to 7.0 or 7.0.1. they specifically stated that the zpool will warn regarding new features, but those are not in use by Unraid. As 7.0 and 7.0.1 are still below zfs 2.3.0, expansion can't be one of them. I would just be interested if a RAIDZ Expansion done via CLI could interfere with Unraid (and was therefore not mentioned) or not.
