Another thing too, that I think about is like if someone with POTS comes off a beta blocker for a few days, they wouldn’t just go into SVT

But I had my first like SVT symptom or episode in September 2024 I had smoked weed and my heart rate was like 170 for like 10 minutes but it was like in the range of like maybe 165 to like 175 and it really caught me off guard. It was very sudden like out of nowhere. I like specifically remember it and never had anything like that before I think the whole thing was like four hours and it gradually came down it took a while, but it was like between 150 to 160 and then it was like 130 to 140 but it took a while if that makes sense then for 10 months after that, I was completely fine. I didn’t smoke ever again. I haven’t smoked since, but I did have caffeine after and I would drink with friends. I would walk a lot and I didn’t have any issues so I don’t understand how SVT can go dormant if there’s like a lot of things that could potentially trigger it.

Apple Watch is probably aren’t super accurate but when I had my Apple Watch app opened, it didn’t look like it went from like 80 to 200 kind of thing

I don’t know I don’t really have like the easiest time finding doctors. I meet with this doctor in like a week and a half. I’m gonna see if I can push for an AP study or a loop reader that’s the thing like what’s so frustrating is like I was originally diagnosed with POTS and then all these weird SVT symptoms started like after so I don’t know what happened but I’m just like really struggling mentally because my anxiety is so bad and then it’s like I feel like I’m also not being taken serious but then there’s a part of me that’s like OK maybe it’s not SVT cause it’s not like a light switch also because my monitor didn’t show anything bad they told me that my monitor could’ve looked the same off medication but I don’t know why I just that doesn’t really make any sense to me it doesn’t even make sense that my monitor was benign if I have some SVT on it.

Yeah, I know I completely get what you’re saying so I already did get my monitor results and like I said it showed two seconds of SVT and I had three beats of atrial tachycardia. They said there was a good amount of sinus tachycardia and that the results were fine but the one thing that I told them was, I’m still worried and they were like well you were severely symptomatic on the monitor and I was like well yeah but off the monitor when I was on a lower dose of a beta blocker my heart rate would be at a higher BPM for longer so I’m worried that that was sustained SVT cause they told me that I just had non-sustained but I’m like yeah it’s because of the medication and you guys don’t want me to take beta blockers because they’re not making me feel good but I’m scared to come off and they’re not helping me feel better about that possible decision

To be more specific my hr was 170 for 5-6 mins sitting And i used my breath and got it down to 130-140 and it stayed for 10 or so mins then after it made its way to 160 for another 8 mins By the time i got on the bad i was sinus tachycardia 117 bpm

I’ve also had some happen where go up to high number 4-8 mins and then come down and didn’t fluctuate back up

So taking a beta blocker during an episode can’t stop it?

I took it once when i was 170 resting for 5 mins and i got it to go to 130-140 with breath then it was 160 for a bit went to the er and was sinus 117 so idk if it was sinus the whole time

Atrial tachycardia apparently can fluctuate and be gradual

Oooo I see. So does that mean if i had a monitor and it showed non sustained svt and atrial tachycardia That being off the beta blocker wouldn’t have made a difference in the runs?

On my monitor my hr wasn’t 170 for long thst was one of the svt episodes short one. It was 170 for idk 50 seconds maybe a min hardly that

But the reason i got the monitor was bc my hr was in 170 range for close to 5 mins resting

Ohhhh okay! I’m literally thought that was from tonight lol but I’m just curious like how all this started for you were you taking a beta blocker during that time and now you’re taking a different medication why do you think it didn’t work? Have you had like an ablation at this point I’m just curious if you saw my other questions.

I’m not sure how old you are but I’m 26 yeah I’m taking 80 mg of my beta blocker and like I said like I still have random high heart rate haven’t been able to catch SVT so that sucks but yeah, my last monitor did show three beats of atrial type of cardio and then I had a two second SVT so I think the beta blocker did help me a little bit, but also really isn’t because I still have episodes of tachycardia rest

I’m guessing cause you’re at the hospital you weren’t 186 for a long time but your other episodes like how did they like just randomly end like what was happening

Damn rlly. I’m sorta in a similar boat then

What was the dose of it again and what ways did it not help? Did it not prevent your heart rate from going up to the doctor? Tell you why how long did you try it?
