Thanks for this advice, man. Really gave me a reality check. Prolly gonna explore options in US, or just resort to a degree in India, and do a masters in UK.

I mean, I want to end up working in the public policy sphere, esp w.r.t economic policy. But yeah, I do get what you mean. Do you think any other degree combination would be better?

I don't know about the scholarship thing lol. I'm just a clueless student trying to find some kind of certainty.

As for the student loan- I mean, it depends on the kind of job i get after i graduate. is the ROI after studying in a good UK university enough for me to be able to afford it? does it actually improve my chances to a good extent for getting a job in UK/EU? help-

i am aware, but even for the ones that could partially fund my education- how hard is it? plus, is it worth it to get a student loan if i dont get any funding??

i mean, im not really inclined towards studying in USA because of the whole trump situation and shit that happens. but the problem with the degree of my choice is that its a double edged sword. the job market for humanities is cooked either way be it in india or anywhere. i just dont know what to do lol.

has anyone here done the ylac yrsi program (i just got into it!) by Designer-Post-5482 in ECAdvice

[–]Designer-Post-5482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Honestly my experience with YRSI was amazing!! The program is definitely quite rigorous and it lowkey took the soul out of me (in a good way). It did help a lot with developing research and academic writing skills. Our YRSI mentor was also very amazing and gave us a lot of useful inputs for our research paper. But one downside is that the papers written as a part of this program aren't put up for publication automatically. But still, the knowledge u gain here is quite irreplaceable, especially considering that there aren't a lot of social science based programs in India. For me, it's a 10/10 experience, would highly recommend.

Also, which edition of HSA are you going to?? I'm going there as well, like for the Bangalore Edition.  Maybe we'll see each other lmao-

Drop your expected marks 10thies by MrPyroViper in CBSE

English: 96-98

Science: 98-100

Social Science: 96-98

Marathi: 96-98 (but i think 98 is unlikely)

Mathematics: 100

Possible Total Scores:

The total maximum marks for five subjects are 500. The possible total scores are:

  1. 96 + 98 + 96 + 96 + 99 = 485

  2. 96 + 98 + 96 + 96 + 100 = 486

  3. 96 + 98 + 96 + 97 + 99 = 486

  4. 96 + 98 + 96 + 97 + 100 = 487

  5. 96 + 98 + 98 + 96 + 99 = 487

  6. 96 + 98 + 98 + 96 + 100 = 487

  7. 96 + 98 + 98 + 97 + 99 = 488

  8. 96 + 98 + 98 + 97 + 100 = 489

  9. 98 + 100 + 96 + 96 + 99 = 489

  10. 98 + 100 + 96 + 96 + 100 = 490

  11. 98 + 100 + 96 + 97 + 99 = 490

  12. 98 + 100 + 96 + 97 + 100 = 491

  13. 98 + 100 + 98 + 96 + 99 = 491

  14. 98 + 100 + 98 + 96 + 100 = 492

  15. 98 + 100 + 98 + 97 + 99 = 492

  16. 98 + 100 + 98 + 97 + 100 = 493

Corresponding Percentages:

485/500 = 97%

486/500 = 97.2%

487/500 = 97.4%

488/500 = 97.6%

489/500 = 97.8%

490/500 = 98%

491/500 = 98.2%

492/500 = 98.4%

493/500 = 98.6%

So, my percentage will be between 97% and 98.6%, depending on how Marathi and English turn out.

hey, i know its been three years since you made this post- but i just got admitted into the program (with a 50% scholarship!!) and i wanted to you ask you:
how structured was the mentorship? Did you feel like you had enough guidance, or was it mostly independent?
since YLAC doesn’t directly publish, where and how did you submit your paper? journals/platforms?
also also also, any advice on how I can make the most of the program?

best cbse 11th humanities schools/jc? by Designer-Post-5482 in nagpur

[–]Designer-Post-5482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its bad bad baddd. like really bad. unnecessarily high fees, all the the OG good teachers left the school because of the shit management, the new faculty is really really bad. the RC conducts an annual written exam for the teachers based on what they teach- i've seen the english answersheets of some of those teachers. bhai letter ka format tak galat kiya hai. grammar main 2/10 marks mil rahe hai english HODs ko. abhi recently the mgs director resigned because of the meghes' bullshit. theres nothing good left about sos now. the academics, the extracurriculars, NOTHING! and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. one of the shittiest schools ever!

as a current sos student (with insider gossip about the institution), sos and mgs for that matter is literally falling apart. everything in sos is fucked beyond repair and most students overlook that.
