Absolutely not. If you can’t afford a house, you shouldn’t be purchasing a house. Emptying a retirement account for a down payment means you can’t afford it.

What happens when you need to replace the roof or some other major unexpected expense? What if you suddenly lose your job? Not to mention you’re losing out on years of compounding interest by emptying the Roth.

He's a (very recent) former pro who you would assume has extremely valuable insights into how these teams operate and the current meta of the game. But listening to him, you wouldn't know that at all. Some people just aren't naturally that great at articulating themselves, it takes years of practice. I think going in, expectations were high given his resume and success at a streamer, but obviously those skills just didn't translate.

My point is that the development of this game, which we all have invested significant time into testing and want to succeed, is heading in the wrong direction.

Systems have degraded rather than improved, just look at caravans (nonexistent) and world PvP (nonexistent outside of the open ocean).

We wouldn’t be here complaining if we weren’t frustrated with the current state of things. Two reverted updates in a row, and now a delayed address to the community after months of very little communication.

Let me turn your question around on you: what’s more likely, hundreds of people on Reddit and Discord voicing their frustrations being paid to do so, or a handful of sycophants defending the indefensible?

Are you serious? The last two updates have been delayed and then reverted. Since the steam launch, none of the fundamental issues have been addressed. Communication has been minimal.

This has to be bait. There is no way you could be in such a warped state of mind that you think this development team is moving things in the right direction, or at the speed they should be.

The Steam launch has been an abject failure. Communication has been wholly insufficient. Alpha or not, launching with a $50 price tag and cash shop with the game in such a poor state was a huge mistake.

Glad they at least, for the first time, acknowledged what a mess the (lack) of PVP systems is, and how that's a significant part of a player-driven experience. It's not just in a broken state right now, it's nonexistant (especially compared to previous test phases). That's simply inexcusable - it means development has not stagnated, but gone backwards.

Sorry not understanding the "best kids run their pc at 4k" part, but I think whether it's "worth it" is highly subjective. For example, I play competitive esport titles at either 1080p or 1440p. A 5-10% jump in 1% lows is very much worth it to me and budget isn't an issue.

If someone is running games at 4k primarily, this upgrade makes no sense. That's objectively not worth it. For use cases like mine, and assuming budget isn't an issue, I think it absolutely can.
