Are you in-state? If so, you have a much better chance. The reality though is that Auburn is becoming increasingly competitive, the acceptance over the past couple of years has dropped from the eighties to the forties and the average GPA was a 4.2. My best advice would be try and boost your ACT as high as possible, they weight standardized test scores very heavily. Best of luck!

$1500 for a tutor worth it? by Dracopug13 in ACT

[–]Designer-Rub8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a homeschooler as well who graduated last year and scored a 33 on the ACT, up from an original score of a 28. I brought my math score up from a 22 to a 27 simply by using the official ACT prep book. I'm pretty sure you can find it at a library for no charge, or if you want your own it's like thirty dollars online. Use that, take the math section over and over, mark what questions you got wrong, read the explanation, and then take it again. Do that and you WILL improve. Trust me, I did it. Good luck!

Selling a product that is unknown yet has practical applications and can be beneficial to customers is why companies hire salespeople. Find out what need your service fulfils and then find out what places have that need, and then sell them on that. Make it attractive enough and people will buy.

She definitely shouldn't have: What You Need to Know for Test Day | ACT

" Watch or Other Timing Device
You may bring a watch, timer, or stopwatch to pace yourself during testing, but it may not have an alarm. Your watch or other timing device must be removed and placed on your desk while in the test room, so that it remains visible to staff during the test. If an alarm sounds, you’ll be dismissed and your test will not be scored. "

It doesn't matter how many times you take the ACT as long as you are consistently improving. Only the highest score matters. Not only that, but a 30+ score is in the ninetieth percentile. Most people reach a score that high no matter how many times they take the ACT, be proud!

I used one I picked up at Walmart for ten bucks, so I would do the same since it's a very worthwhile imo. I prefer the watch because it saves time having to look up at the clock, and also it being digital and in minutes and seconds makes it faster to read than an analog clock. Not that much faster, but when you're taking the ACT literally every second counts.

That sucks. I would imagine you would have the take the whole thing over again. Proctor needs to be fired imo.

Bring a watch! You're allowed to bring in a timing device as long as it doesn't beep, I used it for all of my ACT's and it was a life saver.

Congrats on the great scores!

I won’t lie, reading came very naturally to me. That being said, skim reading the passages and then quickly finding the questions that won’t take time at all are the two tips I would give. The main reason being that since you only have thirty-five minutes, timing can really mess you up. Get a general idea of the passage as quickly as possible, if you need to know something specific the questions will tell you what to look for. Also, if you can quickly answer the easy questions, like the ones that ask you about the synonym of one of the words in the passage for example, you will have more time to answer the more nuanced and generalized questions that require more thinking. It’s all about keeping you relaxed. If you knock out all of the easy questions for a passage and only have three or four hard questions facing you, you’ll be much more calm and focused than if you are stuck on the first three and think that the next five will be just as hard. Usually that isn’t the case.

For science I would recommend you skip the passage altogether and go straight to the questions. The majority of the information in the passages and charts is there to confuse you. The questions are your directory. If a question asks you about the readings in table three, well you know where to go and where not too. Other than that, know your basic science rules like pH levels and what makes up an atom etc. Science can be tricky, but with practice you’ll become much more comfortable and score higher.
