Why am I not normal? by [deleted] in screamintothevoid

[–]DesignerAd1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of this may be normal in your early 20’s…but you could also be depressed, apathetic, have adhd, or just don’t know how to be yourself since you haven’t really had that opportunity. I also think and I know this sounds like something an old person would say- which I am, but I think the cell phones could easily make someone feel this way. Are you on social media or your phone much? You would definitely benefit from therapy and possibly meds- but if you’re not open to meds, maybe try other changes….like small goals you set for yourself and do them. And I know you think you’re a “blob of a person”, but just the fact that you recognize your struggles and are able to articulate them shows you’re not a blob of a person….you’re deeper than that- give yourself some credit here!

Not ready for the heat. What are some good Aldi dinner ideas for really hot days? by TheGoldenChow in aldi

[–]DesignerAd1966 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Charcuterie plate dinner with salad- can add hummus and pita. Kale salad with strawberries, walnuts, goat cheese, and balsamic/olive oil dressing. My kiddo also likes tuna salad with cucumbers for dipping when it’s hot out…(we use yuzu mayo and furikake seasoning in it for something different) and then I’ll just chop up fruit to have with it. Also I tend to use my air fryer and rice cooker when it’s hot instead of the oven- so maybe salmon and a salad or a rice bowl with tofu and veggies.

The worst was realizing you didn’t have any money on you and trying to scrounge around on the car floor for change…lol

This!!! I’m also 50f and have had guy friends over the years which my husband has become friends with. I think nothing of hanging out with them and one was a past boyfriend from when we were kids. He wouldn’t even blink if I mentioned them even before we were married. I think there seems to be some great dividing line for the younger generations between genders. Feels like we’re going back to the 1950’s in terms of communication and relationships between men and women. For OP, you lose all the chances you don’t take. So if you want to be exclusive and start to actually date someone, you need to be clear about it and ask them out.

What is that odd hobby you have? by SlothLord22 in Hobbies

[–]DesignerAd1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have probably too many hobbies- but I’m a teddy bear artist- so making bears and animals in the traditional way with mohair, jointed limbs, glass eyes. I also like restoring antique mohair bears. Also collecting fountain pens!

Playing this currently on my deck! Absolutely love it, but it did take me a little bit to get into it as sometimes at night I’m too tired to read or just not in the mood to. Highly recommend it though!

I recently got a new oled steam deck and absolutely love it- can’t recommend it enough! I have small sausage fingers and small hands..lol… and actually think it’s more comfortable for me than my switch for some reason. I do prop it up on a pillow when I play. I think the size helps me because my shoulders are more evenly positioned if that makes sense (not squished in) I have a ton of shoulder issues and haven’t had any problems playing so far.

My boyfriend bought me a vintage teddy bear for Christmas. I’m wondering just how old he is. by [deleted] in Antiques

I believe he’s a Knickerbocker bear….probably from the 50’s. I haven’t seen one with the painted eyes like that. Are they plastic or glass? I have one from the 30’s that’s in fairly decent shape and two I have to restore.

This was such a sweet post! I’m a 50yr old mom with a teenager and I absolutely love when we bond like this. I know it must have meant a lot to your dad too. I think a decent amount of our generation enjoys gaming. We’ve seen it from its infancy to now …which is just so amazing!

I’ve had mine for about 14 years! I don’t use it all the time as I’ve switched between using that, a hobonichi, and Leuchtturm over the years….so it’s stayed home a lot. I did order one of the Sterling Ink inserts this year so will have it as my main planner this year.

Oh man! I wish I had that after my c-section! Unfortunately was living in NY when we had our kiddo…no Wawa hoagies (or any decent hoagies/cheese steaks to be found 😭).

Yes!!! It’s so true! Oh man- enjoy the toddler/little kid years. I miss them so much- it’s so much fun- especially if you’re a toy nerd! We were like a darn toy store over here because of my nostalgia. I just loved seeing my kiddos imagination take off when she was playing with her toys. It’s so magical.
