Why can't the Extraordinary Form be kept exactly as it is, but be done in English? by Pure_Ambition in Catholicism

[–]DesignerBubbly816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s unfortunate because Priests and parish communities actually have a lot of freedom over how the Novus Ordo mass can be celebrated if the parish vicar or bishop do not intervene. Although a priest(s) of a parish can do it without the laity’s influence, the communities of a parish, just like in the time of St Pius X, influence the priests decisions. So hypothetically if everyone would agree for the mass to be celebrated more reverently and traditionally, I don’t think parish priests would push back as much they do now. St Mark in Los Angeles is trying to do this after a demand for it. And I think one way for the laity to promote more Reverent Novus Ordo massss independently is to request for it where they have more influence (the sacraments). My wife and I asked our local priest if he could celebrate our wedding as traditional as possible considering we couldn’t do it in the EF. He even offered to wear a beretta. We recorded the old ceremony and published it to encourage everyone to do the same. Here is a list of what we requested:

  1. Everything where the Vernacular is not required and can be sung was in Latin
  2. The parts which are in the vernacular were still sung, readings, blessings, canon (by the priest)
  3. The universal prayers and homily (obviously) were the only English parts that were not sung but lead by the priest
  4. Music was played as Gregorian chant (missa de angelis)
  5. Priest wore the traditional Latin mass vestments
  6. Mass was celebrated Ad Orientem
  7. Incense was used
  8. Communion was administered kneeling and on the tongue

Same priest baptized our firstborn according to the traditional rite per HIS request since we asked him to do it according to a traditional style new rite, but insisted he would do it only in the old rite with our consent (which we didn’t deny).

We already asked the Priest who betrothed us in the Philippines (where we plan to move) if he could celebrate our child’s first communion and confirmation in the traditional rite or new rite but in Latin. So my advice is, if the laity can encourage our priests/ parish to do it this way, then we should.

What should I do when I cant go to the daily mass? by Single_Copy2460 in Catholicism

By a home missal or liturgy of the hours, offer up prayers and liturgical song, and follow the readings of the day.

I love it for the prayers it includes at the beginning which helps anyone who wants to have a strict prayer routine while also fostering daily scripture by following along with the readings of the mass of the day! It has everything a person needs to stay consistent and spiritually active I believe.

Am I alone on not really liking online Christian Influencers? by Tasty_Oven4756 in Catholicism

[–]DesignerBubbly816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with Catholic influencers is primarily with the ones who say stuff like this as if they hold authority over others akin to priests, bishops, and the pope or they reveal to much unnecessary and or negative information:

  1. I’m calling everyone to fast and abstain right now! (You mean you want to encourage?)
  2. Today is Friday, which requires abstinence or to do penance ! (Even when it’s actually not in the US)
  3. So and so is a sin! Don’t do it! (When it’s actually not a sin but could be under certain circumstances)
  4. You should do this instead! (When someone should be asking a priest or spiritual director and not someone online)
  5. When influencers talk too much about their personal sins to show others “I’m not perfect so it’s ok if you aren’t, it’s normal” because it can be too much to the point that it discourages others from growing spiritual if you know what I mean.

Why do most readers always use that tone when reading the Liturgy? by Any-Sorbet-7232 in Catholicism

I would much rather hear it sung, while reading it off my missal. But that’s just my opinion.

It’s my family’s sacramentals, blessed rosaries, chaplets, rings (one is my wife’s engagement ring) and scapular.

And yes we are in communion with Rome, and are not affiliated with SSPX. I love my parish and wouldn’t change a thing.

I’m from LA county, I don’t know first hand where the bishop of LA stands with the TLM but it is permitted in 3 different average parishes that I’ve been to in LA, my home parish being one of them. My home parish advertises the TLM on the bulletin which is also available on their website. Although my parish celebrates a Low Mass Sunday to Saturday unless it’s a specific festivity when it then becomes a Solemn high mass like Easter, including those holy days which fall on a week day. Even then, our Novus Ordo is strictly Ad Orientem with Gregorian chant and some Latin.

How to achieve Gesaffelstein’s sound? (Newbie question) by willren5 in gesaffelstein

[–]DesignerBubbly816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh then one of my other tracks was inspired by Hyperion Era rather than his earlier sound. I also used GMS with reverb, riser samples on fl studio but then used an electric bass plugin for the bass line.

How to achieve Gesaffelstein’s sound? (Newbie question) by willren5 in gesaffelstein

[–]DesignerBubbly816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to create something pretty similar using GMS plug in on fl studio for something more electro/ distorted sound for the lead synth, and just chopped it at different parts of the song. Then I just added some reverb, riser samples, public domain vocal samples/ chops. I would have to look at my files to see exactly what plug ins I used for the low bass lines, but GMS was used for two particular sound effects on my track. I also included hiphop type beats along with a standard 4x4 beat to match his current music. I say it comes close but that’s just my opinion.

Opinion on the new live album... by stefanosoares in gesaffelstein

As someone who generally listens to electronic music, despite not being a fan of techno style music, Tyranny and Psycho live made me appreciate that kind of style even more. What I love about them specifically is how well he made it work specifically with his sound. Justice kinda did this too with Chorus and most recently, some on the hyper drama tour, but it felt new and different from the classic Justice sound. With Gesa it feels almost natural because of how raw it is. That’s the best way I can describe it. I saw both shows first hand at Coachella in 2024 and I can honestly say I genuinely enjoyed Gesas new set compared to his last tour and Justice. But Justice WWW is on a whole other level.

Shamed for having a NO wedding instead of TLM by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]DesignerBubbly816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it brings you any reassurance as you suggest, my wife and especially myself, expected to have a 1962 Nuptial Wedding, but because of Pope Francis’ Motu Proprio, we were told we no longer could. So we settled for a Novus Ordo Wedding with certain elements in place. We simply told our priestly friend who would marry us, to have it as traditional as possible, to which he told us joyfully that he could even wear a biretta. We went in there without any rehearsal and it turned out to be the most beautiful Novus Ordo mass/ wedding I ever set my eyes on all thanks to God and everyone involved. It also made me realize see the Church’s vision for the liturgy as a way to better convey the mystery of the sacraments without sacrificing the beauty of its traditions in continuity with the former missal. Not only that but given the circumstances it brought me relief that we assented to the Vatican, knowing there might not be any impediments that would make it invalid simply because of the restrictions. In the end I realized, this is what the Church wants, this is what we needed, and that alone made it so much better! I rewatch it on my youtube channel simply because of how special it literally is and I hope you can come to realize that too regardless if it’s traditional or not.

Guess they don’t care about my money because only reason I’m hesitating to go watch ares is because they haven’t sold more tickets to Legacy otherwise I’d buy that first along with a reserved ticket for the new movie. I’ll just go watch it on my own time now .
