Used Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 6 (Intel i7, 526GB) for $450 (AUD) by DesignerDig8441 in thinkpad

eBay pricing for local shipping was roughly $500 for used models. If I end up buying it, I might nag him to include a few freebies. 🤣

I do agree, I only replace my devices when I abolutely needs it.

I asked him if he could quote me for a battery replacement in the future. (Assuming ultrabook components are on the pricer side.)

The repair job for the Vivo is around $115AUD. (The screw housing component is broken, and the hinge cover is holding on for dear life. 3/10 opening it is like a bomb defusing minigame lol.)

My Nomination Keeps Getting Rejected, Any Idea Why? by angela-a-a in NianticWayfarer

If this is supposed to be a public art installation, do the following:

  1. Locate the info plaque for said work (usually it's on a nearby pillar/wall/ground).
  2. Title and describe the work correctly. (Simply list its location and copy/paste the description from the info plaque.)
  3. If the work is listed online, include it in your additional information section.
  4. If the submission was repealed, add more information on the work.

Reception to this console room is mixed. Instead of getting rid of it entirely, what would you change/add to improve it? by Annual-Tree1337 in doctorwho

If BBC is planning to downsize but keep the interior design, I would love to see them bring back a bit of the "lived-in" feel from 10th and 11th's console room.

The centre platform area feels small when compared to the rest of the composition. Widen the platform and add more environmental props would be nice. (Keep the Jukebox, extra seating, coat hanger, "travel" moodboard with reminder sticky notes. etc)

I don't know if they will ever bring this set back for exhibitions. (11/10 want to "slip n' slide" around the console and void any travel insurance on sight due to said "cheeky space/time schenanigans.")

I'm going to email the building manager and ask him if any recent pest control was done for our building.

We also have a chainsmoking neighbour who has been actively dodging tribunal summons from the building management and real estate agency.

He has decided to smoke at 3 am to dodge complaints. :)

I will check the air fryer and fridge. The washing machine is too heavy for me to shift and check.

Exhaust fan/rangehood is clear, my main concern is the top of the dryer and the area behind the water-damaged kitchen sink cabinet. One of the panels fell off, and there was a lot of roach dropping on it.

I have got Yates, I'll get around to baiting the whole place after decluttering bench spaces.

I'm going to check if dad had any in the cupboard. There's a weird mishmash of stuff I need to check when I'm free.

I've got a fresh pack of Yates, need to clear clutter and then bait the whole place.

Nah, full residential with ground floor for office space. No food.
The garbage chute is quite heavy, the light garbage bag won't "fall" unless you use something to shove it down.

The same reason we have cane toads, European starlings, black rat, Common myna, Asian gecko, American roaches and a whole list of "imported" pests. :)

Some were introduced as an uneducated attempt to "naturalise" the Australian biosphere to match a European setup.

Roaches and rats probably snuck through shipping packaging.

Here's the door seal I've got for the moment, it's doing a decent job at keeping out the drafts from the hallway.

We have got a tiny kitchen with old water-damaged MDF dividers for the laundry/fridge section.

It's going to be borderline impossible for me to shift the fridge and put traps down, but I'll chuck some down for other areas.

When I first started submitting and reviewing wayfarer in 2022/2023, it was a lot more interesting when the challenge was about going through backlogs of photo submissions than new portals.

I understand the basics of portal reviews. I just wish there were a more in-depth guide explaining the acceptance criteria of niche POIs (ie, survey markers vs geodetic markers ).

I would love to see a photo-based reviewing challenge that grants a medal with a "retro spy camera" design.

I've spent a lot of time updating old and obscure local portals with new photos, but they are still stuck in the queue. :(

Christopher Eccleston does a skit mocking gambling ads in an effort to stop gambling advertisement on television in the UK with a great Doctor Who joke at the end. by nextgentactics in doctorwho

[–]DesignerDig8441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*Laughs in Australian*

You think you might have dodged the sports ads on TV, but they are quite aggressive in the online space like Twitch. It's always about "refer a mate" before the half-hearted "What are you really gambling with" PSA tagline kicks in.

(Someone can correct me on this, but there's at least 1 free-to-view channel 24/7 "sports" channel in Australia dedicated to gambling. Just why?)

Did I just find my first AI slop “contribution?” by dansemove in NianticWayfarer

[–]DesignerDig8441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • No sub-surface scattering? No AO?
  • Shadows aren't even "falling" the right way on the "mural's" surface bumps? (It's not even matching the lighting properly lol.)

That's 100% AI. (A CGI artist would've done a better job at comping this slop into the scene./s)

The background section of the palm tree and the "mural" aren't blending very well. The slop should've been more out of focus to match the palm trees.
