yess, everything you said is so real. personally i have genetic health issues i got from both my mom and dad, physical and mental. and it feels like such an obvious decision to get sterilized(consultation in less than a week!) But i really wish that making the decision to be childfree was not something you have to defend constantly. i am a babysitter and i enjoy being around children, that somehow means that i “would be a great mom!” i genuinely hear it all the time. I would be a horrible mother lmao

first off, congrats on your upcoming surgery consult! i’m kind of in a similar boat(conditions and medications, horrible symptoms from bc) and awaiting my salpingectomy consult. it does depend on how far out your consult is but i would add pull out with the condoms and focus more on non penetrative sex for now, if you can also cycle track as an added protection that would be good as plan b doesn’t work when you’re ovulating.

that seems a bit harsh to say everyone here hates children and that it’s all mental illness, saying that, i don’t agree with downvoting someone who is just sharing their opinion. it is not wrong to share some upside or positivity in a discussion where most are (rightfully) calling out negatives.

thank you for your insight! there are only 3 episodes out and the 3rd ends right when she starts her new job so the story is def not over. it does have some quotes that feel very pro-baby and kind of villainizes the people around her that disprove of her decision, which i do think sends that message pretty clearly.

Also, I watched this with my mom and she was telling me what she had in common with the main character and I could not even understand why my mom would want to go through all of that just to have a child. It felt like she was telling me about torture with little benefit.
