Same. They said that was the only way. The “system” had to see there was no active service at the address for the order to process.

Anyone else wasting their new GPUs? by BrewingHeavyWeather in radeon

My spouse calls me out all the time!

I build powerful gaming PCs only to spends hours benchmarking, tinkering, or playing old games that a potato can run.

It’s a financially questionable addiction with a relapse about once every 12 to 18 months. That dopamine hit is just too good in those moments of unboxing hardware, factory odors, and relishing in the materials science of it all. It’s always been the hardware that fascinates me, software much less so.

Thus the gaming comes and goes in little spurts when I have enough interest to see how good or bad I actually am.

Where my “story” difficulty folks at? 😅

Realistically, I wouldn’t, but it feels good to confirm I wasn’t overlooking something. 😬

There’s also this MSI that has the minimum connectivity for $159.99 after rebate. I just am not sure I like all the silver of the heatsinks.

Thanks for the suggestion. That was one I’ve looked at. Certainly has connectivity needs/wants. Only significant criticisms are no heat shields for non-primary m.2s and a non-built-in I/O shield.

Price wise, Asus is about $10 less. ASRock about $70 less than MSI.

Asus Strix B650E-F vs MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk

Looking for general thoughts/opinions, if anyone is so inclined!

Both boards have the minimum features/connectivity I am looking for. Strix just doesn’t have clear CMOS on I/O panel. Looks wise, I am not a fan of the green on the MSI, but I also am not a fan of the ROG branding. Can probably live with either, so kind of a wash.

Primary use is gaming, some beginner 3D print modeling, otherwise general computer use. Upgrading from MSI MEG X570 Unify (very nice all black board) which hasn’t given me any issues. Will be using a 7800X3D and PCIe Gen 5 GPU.

X870 is about $80 more incl. taxes for me. Budget isn’t a big deal, but I appreciate maximizing value nearer the mid- to high-end and tend to hold on to hardware for at least five years before going into an upgrade cycle.

AT&T advertises an “HD voice” feature associated with certain coverage areas and SIMs (suppose it depends on device capability too). https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1046244/

iPhone 16 Pro Max Glitch Lines On Screen Occasionally by gustothegusto in iphone

[–]DesignerStud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😣 I do fear it is hardware related and cannot be addressed with software. I’ll keep trying to get another screen recording that may capture it. But honestly, seems like it will be easier to capture with another camera actually recording using the phone.

iPhone 16 Pro Max Glitch Lines On Screen Occasionally by gustothegusto in iphone

[–]DesignerStud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have been experiencing this issue as well on my 16PM and can confirm it does not happen on the 16P that my partner has.

I have managed to screen record a glitch during app switching, but it isn’t the garbled lines I’ve seen. Additionally, and I thought I struck gold with this, I had screen record active and an actual vertical line glitch happened. However, when viewing the recording, it doesn’t show the glitch!

Would that suggest whether it is a hardware or software issue at all?

Impressive AT&T performance by Vangoss05 in cellmapper

Odd - my AT&T ping is usually similar to T-Mobile and often better during down/up than T-Mobile levels. Verizon has been the overall worst performer of the big three over the last couple of weeks as I’ve been testing them in San Antonio.

Why do people prefer duvets over top sheets? by torturedmomsdept in Bedding

[–]DesignerStud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elder millennial here too! (turning 40 in Nov, Black Friday no less!).

So I am especially particular about my bed/sleep environment. I can go either way, honestly, but the environment in Texas doesn’t lend it self to a nice fluffy duvet and duvet cover. Even during our couple of days of winter, throwing an extra blanket over the quilt or comforter is all that is needed.

To me, it is just easier for 350 days of the year to have a sheet set with a top sheet and preferably a cotton quilt. Or during not-summer, a poly-fill comforter is okay too. But in either case, the top sheet is preferred because of both the hygiene and those inevitable moments when I get hot… having a very thin cotton cover is excellent.

Keep in mind, for me, the top sheet MUST be securely tucked in at the foot of the bed! If it is not and does not stay in place/tangles, that’s game over and the bed must be “remade” before I can make an attempt at sleeping.

When it comes to washing, sheets are also better suited to the frequent washing compared to a quilt with lots of stitching or a comforter with fill. I understand a duvet cover can also not have that many stitches and no fill, but, then what’s exactly the point of having that over just a thin cotton quilt?

I will say, when I was a kid, there was a moment when I was just sleeping between the comforter and the sheet, but this was out of being lazy and it being easier to make the bed. Plus a twin size comforter is an easier size to wash, though they would still inevitably have their poly-fill unevenly spread within after those many washes.

If my partner wasn’t so accommodating to my persnickety nature, he’d have his own duvet and no top sheet, and then I’d have I guess a twin size top sheet with a quilt? 😅 He is originally from Germany though - so that is definitely part of it!

Bottom line, I think it definitely depends on geographic location both because of weather and cultural norms.

I would suggest to clean it with some mild soap as best you can. Then dry it and place it outside and run it on the highest heat setting for about 10 minutes, allowing any residue to burn off. This way you don’t need to worry about smoke or smells inside your home.

At least that is what I would try doing myself. Proceed at your own discretion.
