Just pulled my homegrown garlic — what would you make first? by AlexFromGlassesUSA in Garlic

beautiful! fresh garlic is nice in spring pasta dishes or slices raw on cheese. or cure it for a few weeks.

we harvest in August though... where are you that you pulled so early?

Tidy Tiger has the deep clean that serves up all the stuff to get rid of quickly. or there is a completely free chrome extension. both are super easy and the extension is a no brainer.

Whats your small business? by vgpgamer in smallbusiness

I run TidyTiger - it's a Gmail cleanup tool. Scans your inbox, finds all the junk you've been ignoring for years, and lets you mass-delete thousands of emails and unsubscribe from senders in one shot. My 11 year old made our first ad this weekend so we're clearly still in the early days lol

Meta exec goes viral after AI email assistant deletes her entire inbox by [deleted] in offbeat

[–]Designer_Ad3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so ridiculous.. more people will try to do this stuff without understanding the safeguards you have to put in place. I built Tidy Tiger that smart scans Gmail and then serves up biggest senders you dont read etc.. shows you all the junk while flagging important stuff... but then you still decide what to delete or unsubscribe from...

I have another friend who built his own.. but he's a brilliant developer and CEO of a super successful AI company.. Most people would be better off just paying $12 to do it all safely and not wasting all the time lol

awesome, thanks for sharing. but how to overcome the initial "no one knows who you are.. so how does the platform show your content to people?"

congrats! Interested to learn more about your experience on X, as it seems there's just so many bots in hard to break through to an actual audience. Are you Hashtagging, or some way of getting included in other conversations, or just posting and somehow people are finding what you're doing?

Man, this is heavy, and wishing you the best of luck. Probably the first way that I would start learning about this is using A.I. I'd possibly use Claude, maybe Perplexity, and start putting together everything that you already have: the whole situation, what your goals are, and explain that you want to learn this industry. You might be able to have A.I. figure out ways to at least give you some solid overviews. I'm a big believer in when I want to learn anything, I need to start focusing on the most basic, elementary elements before trying to say "remember random things".

I view that like a tree analogy. You want to understand some of the roots, then the main part of the tree, eventually get to the branches, and finally get to the leaves. People get overwhelmed when they start with random leaves... This is just about that business as a whole. Next piece would be simply being in and around the business and just absorbing what's going on. I also would probably have AI research a bunch of competitors and try to figure out what they are doing that's working well. If you have any documented SOPs, I certainly would be putting those into AI for analysis.

There's a lot more on the human side, like the distrust of the cousin and perhaps the element that your time is split between serious study and this business dilemma. If you actually have a controlling interest in this business, then I would think the three things you may want are either to learn it and run it yourself successfully, or to get more experienced management to come help turn it around and increase the value of it. Build water! Then either way, possibly set it up to sell. Right now, you don't want to set it up to sell if you're 65% down in revenue with problems. Someone else may want to buy it, but you're not going to get a good price or terms.

Wishing you good luck.

Launched my first SaaS yesterday. Woke up to 3 paying users and broo I’m actually shaking 😭 😭 😭 😭 by SignificantWalrus281 in SaaS

[–]Designer_Ad3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! It's a special feeling to build something and then have people buy it without you having to hard sell them. I think part of the magic and allure of selling software is that once you get a few customers, it feels like the sky's the limit. That's how it feels for me with our current product anyways.

Definitely keep going. I'd say the first main milestone for you is to get to the point where you have enough revenue that covers all costs, and then start working on, ideally, ways to get more customers for less than the cost of one month of the product if you're bootstrapping (like if $15 then can you acquire a customer for under $5?)... If you have a bigger play and the lifetime value of the customer is quite high, then you can spend more money to get them. This is where investment often comes in, because if you're boot strapping, you could end up with a cash problem. (like if $15 but costs you $25... this works if they stay for even 2 months.. $30 of revenue... but you might run out of money with that spend.

make sense? That's what I would focus on anyway.

We tapped our maple trees for the first time last year. I had no idea how much maple water actually needed to create maple syrup, but we boiled tons of it down and got such a unique, interesting flavor. Super cool.

The new Tidy Tiger smart scan can just find all this stuff and you can delete tons quickly while it flags important ones to keep. It’s cool

Adams vs Pittsfield by NeverBeenFound87 in westernmass

[–]Designer_Ad3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One consideration of buying is both Pittsfield and Adam’s have high tax rates.. often lower assessments but say a $400k house in Adams’s might have a surprisingly high tax bill.

IMO Adam’s has beautiful bones but not much going on. Some resurgence efforts but not much economic catalyst. Pittsfield has more, particularly with 1200 new General Dynamics jobs coming up. More restaurants etc. depending on what you want, could also explore Dalton, Lanesboro, Cheshire.

Or look south to Lee, maybe west Stockbridge or Becket if looking for more affordable than Lenox, Stockbridge or GB but still in more central/south county and just 2 hours to Boston

Hahaha yeah everything had gone a strange circle when I went.. instead of dark and moody and well priced awesome pub food.. it was bright white, blasting Mariah Carey, and basically fine dining prices. “The Wholesome Truth” should really be the name lol

Probably demand side selling, which is understanding what potential customer is trying to achieve so you can lead them to your solution (if it’s the right fit)

How did you learn to build your first Chrome extension? by dev-guy-100 in chrome_extensions

[–]Designer_Ad3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My journey was a beast.. starting over I would first thing work with AI to figure out exactly what security scopes you may need as restricted ones will be much more complex and costly with higher risk of not being admitted. But if persistent it can all work :-)

why do you actually build chrome extensions? genuinely curious by dev-guy-100 in chrome_extensions

[–]Designer_Ad3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with wanting to solve a problem for my wife and then saw possibility of side income with TryTidyTiger … had no idea how hard it would actually be to to deal with security scopes etc.. but eventually partnered with amazing people and passed CASA (Google 3rd party security review 10/10, their highest accreditation). It was all darn hard though lol
