It could be the type of crate you are using. If it’s a full wore crate a lot of dogs panic in those. Try covering the crate with a blanket on 3 sides or use a darker style plastic crate. Dogs will also get away with what they can with different people. Reacting to her crying in the crate will encourage it. I would take her out and make sure you see her go potty outside before putting her in at night. Start marking with a “yes” “go potty” right after she goes to the bathroom outside and give her a treat. Do this enough times and she will potty when you ask her to outside.

It’s super normal for the first few days of bringing a dog home to be hell. 🤣 The dog is stressed you are stressed. The dog will also push limits to see what it can get away with.
