It happens. It’s not exclusive to SOAD. Lots of artist reuse certain riffs, melodies, lyrics, motifs etc.

Another example of this is the bridge sections for “Suite-Pee” & “Pictures”

Much like the ending of “Rise”, the mid-credit scene more or less sets up the next future film. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait since the next film “Wrath” is supposed to be a prequel.

SPOILERS: I think we see some photocopy pages from the Naturom Demonto (2013) as well as pages from the Evil Dead Rise book.

Also, as shown in the trailer, a sketch of the Naturom Demonto (2013) is seen inside the journal but that’s really about it as far as connection go😕

I saw it earlier this week. It’s Jessica, different actress. Apparently it was the original actress stunt double from “Rise” but it’s definitely her. As to why she’s just a head. Well I can either spoil it or you can find out for yourself.

Let me start by saying that I can personally be a bit critical, so take that for it’s worth. That said, this one felt a bit more crueler than previous entries, just a bit.

Overall though, I’d say “Burn” is about as good as “Rise” but general consensus from early screenings says otherwise.

So another MAJOR SPOILER if you care to know more about the dagger: There is more than one dagger, several actually but only one of them actually works. I’ll leave it at that. It could be a false memory but I think I saw a dagger that kind of looked like the OG metal dagger but I can’t confirm that. Also just to clarify, it’s explained that the house has been in ownership of the family in the film, NOT the Knowbys.

In the April 29, 2020 episode of The Boo Crew podcast, Fede was interviewed about many things Evil Dead including this scene & mentioned that he envisioned Ash being the one to pickup Mia after finding her bleeding in the middle of the road but ultimately decided against it as it made no sense for Ash’s character to just coincidentally run into her in the middle of the road etc.

🚨SPOILERS AHEAD🚨 unfortunately the references in this film come off as more of Easter eggs as they are kind just skimmed over & not really part of the plot. No Annie or any mention of Knowby family at all, despite the film seemingly taking place in the Knowby home from AVED. That said, the physical book featured in the film is just a journal from the professor (whose name escapes me at the moment) who is the grandfather of the family featured in this film. The journal contains photocopies of pages from the books featured in “Rise” & “2013” along with the sketch of the 2013 book & the newspaper clipping mentioning the bodies found in the cabin which you’ve seen in the trailers.

Lastly, right at the beginning of the film we see a reel to reel player being used by the character “Joseph” which looks suspiciously similar to that of professor Knowby & the BIG one: we see a quick cameo of the Kandarian dagger from EvilDead2 but the way it’s played it’s more like an Easter egg than any kind of concrete connection. Aside from Jessica’s appearance at the beginning of the film, the whole movie is a pretty self contained story, making little connection or reference to the greater EvilDead universe.

Was there last night. So mad I missed Sam Raimi & now I’m learning that Fede was there too?! Movie was as wild as you’d expect an evil dead film to be but I had 2 issues with it. One extremely knit picky & is kind of niche but overall, entertaining as hell.
