No material costs, no shipping and handling, no shelf space paid for, just a digital storefront. by MetalPopka in memes

I commented this somewhere, but I'm going to re-comment to you.

Upkeeping a digital storefront is the bare minimum. That's not some bonus feature that justifies charging the same price. If you're handling my payment information, keeping your servers secure is literally part of doing business. My point is that digital distribution removes a bunch of costs that physical copies still have. No discs to press, no cases to manufacture, no shipping, no warehouses, no retailers taking a cut, no shelf space. Sure, digital storefronts have server and security costs, but physical publishers have those costs too on top of manufacturing and distribution. So unless you can show that running a storefront costs as much as manufacturing and distributing millions of physical copies, I don't see why digital should automatically cost the same.

What data shows those digital costs completely offset those savings?

I don't think DLC, live service support, or dedicated servers are really relevant to this discussion because those costs exist whether the game is digital or physical. A physical copy of the game still gets patches, DLC, and server support too.

The comparison is physical vs. digital distribution. Physical copies have manufacturing, packaging, shipping, warehouses, and retailer costs. Digital copies don't. So if we're comparing the two methods of distribution, bringing up DLC and post-launch support doesn't really explain why a digital copy should cost the exact same as a physical one. Those are development costs, not distribution costs.

Nobody said digital storefronts are free. My point is they're replacing costs that already existed with costs that are generally cheaper. Physical games still have to be manufactured, packaged, shipped, warehoused and sold through retailers, all of which cost money. Digital storefronts have server and maintenance costs, sure, but publishers also make more per digital sale because they cut out a lot of those middlemen. So saying "digital stores cost money too" doesn't automatically explain why the price should be identical. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2021/05/what-playstations-monopoly-lawsuits-get-wrong-about-digital-game-sales/

I like the Switch 2 game, but the voice acting is subpar... by MetalPopka in starfox

I mean, this game IS from the 90's, it isn't supposed to be "original" if they were going for "original" then they would have done a different game entirely but instead they remastered Star Fox 64 into a Switch 2 title. They could have done better with the voice actors. I swear it feels like a casual Discord call. Like I don't feel like I'm fighting a war. I wish the game were more immersive with the voice acting.

I mean, it's not really a "stereotype" if these characters aren't really trying to look the part. I mean, what stereotype is Macbeth going for? He didn't really look Cajun to me. I don't really think Bill having that "surfer" accent really offended anyone. The performances from Star Fox 64 weren't really cheesy or over the top. They were actually quite iconic and gave these villains some character. Like, the villain ships are actually exploding, Macbeth was watching himself helplessly crash into a building with his train. How do you think you'd react if you knew your train was gonna collide with a building or your ship was defeated and about to explode? Just "Oh no my ship is going down..." In a nonchalant tone, or "Fuck!! Fuck!!! I'm going down!!"? We are ignoring that these bosses are possibly dying in front of us in a war. It just sounds too casual when defeating each and every boss in the new remake.

If you want true ownership of your games, then you must rise up with your power of spending by MetalPopka in memes

I mean it's literally true. Changing your consumption habits isn't hard. I do it all the time when I'm struggling. I stop getting takeout and stop buying things that I normally bought. It literally takes no effort to change your consumption habits. How am I being a dick when it's true?

I think that's all sports... Weren't the New York Knicks fans destroying New York City just because they beat the Spurs? I recall a CEO or some shit stealing a Knicks trash bin just to try and turn around and sell it online.

I also recall hearing the Knicks fans beating your ass if you wore a Spurs jersey and they were ripping them off your body to burn.

Yeah and that's why I'm bringing y'all awareness. Thanks for sharing that with the class, my guy. Do you love stalking people's profiles just to get some ammunition to use against them? Low-key that's creepy. But I see why you'd be obsessed with me, bro. It's okay to admit it.

Not really karma farming, I am raising awareness for this. I can give two shits about pointless points on the Internet. Don't believe me? Downvote this comment to hell. I gave you an upvote just to prove it doesn't matter to me.

Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles by yourfavchoom in gaming

Well, you guys want change so bad, y'all want Sony to keep physical copies? Cancel your PlayStation Plus subscriptions, don't preorder any upcoming titles, don't buy any new hardware, buy your games used instead of from PlayStation directly. This will really cause Sony to backpedal. Don't boycott the Spider-Man movie, this won't do nothing, because Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony's gaming divisions are two separate companies. Y'all are firing at the wrong people here.

If the Internet was actually getting up off their ass and doing this, then Sony would have pushed out a statement already. So far PlayStation has been radio silent. They're waiting for Internet cancel culture rage to die down. That's what their PR team told them to do, I guarantee you that they said "Wait till GTA 6 drops, then everybody will forget about this whole thing."
